Ayano was born in Japan in the late 1600s where she supposedly served not only as a travelling mercenary but as an intelligence agent for a variety of government officials over nearly three hundred years.
By the late 20th and early century, she was supposedly regarded as a world renowned war criminal, however in the mid-2010s during a raid on her latest hideout she disappeared outright. Not only was the facility that she and her associates held up in completely destroyed but evidence and files pertaining to her worldwide have been wiped out in a series of coordinated raids on various archives.
Ayano would resurface in 2020 where she was scouted by a large smuggling operation in the Rockies, who, unaware of her previous history, acquired her as an asset. Through unknown means the kitsune was quick to climb the ranks and organize a coup within the smuggling ring, taking control and dramatically expanding it.
These days, her new organization works in a variety of fields, smuggling still (although no drugs), gambling, weapons, security, mercenary work and even sponsored combat arenas. She can often be found in the Mirage Coliseum, an invite-resort skyscraper partially built into the mountains and magically warded off for protection. Seemingly having risen back into power, Ayano rests as the Empress of her own hidden criminal underworld and as a board member of a larger criminal alliance (where larger rules and deals are set). Gone seem the days of her former self, and along come the rumours of distant soulless stares and a mysterious arcane wound that exists on her back.
Come down on down to her resort, where the alcohol of paradise flow, endlessly.
