It reminded my of my fresh tyres but also the bad state my brake disks were getting in, so i bought new ones, and my brother, being the mechanically most experienced, put them on, if i tried, i'd probably end up blowing up the car or something...
the old disks would tremble in my steering and brake pad whenever i used them to a certain stress level. I havent been able to test the new ones to that level yet since my brother told me not to brake hard with it untill 500 kilometers later. so i brake gently and decelerrate mostly by downshifting and letting the engine stop me.
will put in scraps later

From the wiki itself:
A tire (in American English and Canadian English) or tyre (in British English, New Zealand English, Australian English and others) is a ring-shaped covering that fits around a wheel rim to protect it and enable better vehicle performance by providing a flexible cushion that absorbs shock while keeping the wheel in close contact with the ground. The word itself may be derived from the word "tie," which refers to the outer steel ring part of a wooden cart wheel that ties the wood segments together (see Etymology below).
i speak more with british people than american people, so go figure :P
