I just imagined that he just tried to avoid and ignore Specter until an actual update proved otherwise with the slave role play making him uncomfortable, which the ape is constantly doing it, aside from the rare moments when he's being a professional nobleman, though I noticed those moments are almost exclusively with Captain Natalie?
Captain Natalie shows little to no interest in him erotically, so he defaults to handling her more like a Pentacost Ape noble.
Jake frustrates Dukey by acknowledging him as a sexual being and then shrugging before walking away.
So unlike with Captain Natalie, there remains a possibility that Dukey can seduce him if he can just figure out what turns Jake's crank.

See now there needs to be a thing where they need to be more political and it's just a mini team of Natalie, Jake, and Specter because the rest of them would seriously fuck this up. Like needing some kind of Pirate Trust permission to sail through a particularly dangerous part of the sea but there is a safe spot they could move through, only it's narrow and controlled by a specific ruler so even as rebellious pirates who freely make their own rules there are some scenarios where even they have to pay the cheese tax to an easily offended noble to pass through and god forbid they take ANYONE with them that is going to be anything but classy and intelligent sounding and not offend the local noble

Actually, that's a good idea.
Captain Natalie has the aura of authority, yet can't tone it down to resist punching someone for being a dick, no matter what their title might be.
First Mate Jake can be a quiet tower of competence who keeps anyone from doing something stupid, and can't improv to save his life.
Second Mate Helga is actually the diplomat of the Independent Privateers, as she can effortlessly convey the impression that she is the only thing standing between whoever she's talking to and being murdered by her two companions. Helga kind of hates having to take charge, so she has a very beleaguered air to her that helps sell the idea that she's running herself ragged trying to hold back a ship full of blood-thirsty pirates and you should REALLY just stamp their paperwork and go away and stop mentioning that their ship looks a lot like the one that has been kicking the British Navy's ass for a while now.
If Helga was incapacitated, Captain Natalie would have to reluctantly concede that the next best person would be Duke Specter.
It would be tricky for her to properly motivate him and he'd need to be bribed aaaaaaalmost to the point of Captain Natalie snapping, but he absolutely could play diplomat and do it very well, even adopting a proper sense of choreography with Jake and Natalie flanking him like nautical nightmares.
