I find it bot amusing and impressive that he has to grab a chair to reach the sword. Amusing, because of the absurdity of going for a weapon you have to rearrange furniture for. Impressive because it shows some courage that you, somebody who has to step on a chair to even reach for the weapon, are willing to pick it up to protect somebody you have barely known for a few months (if I understood the comic correctly. Gonna be honest, my sense of exactly how much time has passed is not perfect in this.) Great stuff!

It was placed above the family shrine and not meant to be used again, kind of like a memorial. This is a moment of development for Turik, who has to come to terms with his world getting turned upside down and he's trying, like Benrod did before, to figure out what really matters to him in a time of crisis. You could say that "finding conviction" is a major story theme for this chapter.

This page filled me with dread. Things could go so poorly for this family so quickly. Mirley might already be long gone and never trust these folks ever again. Aaagh.
