The backgrounds where legit killing me. Sometimes it's hard to get a background to look good with the characters. I found inking with a pen emulating a felt tip marker in Clip Studio Paint and being a bit scraggly with it helped it look detailed and good without making it look too mechanical like with a ruler and a line tool.
Also I would learn after the fact the pirate ship was metal while I was drawing wood patterns.

I'm not an unbiased source, but I think the duke and the Independent Privateers really do suit each other.
He loves attention and physical affection, and they're bored and horny. His antics might be annoying in other circumstances, and yet on the water he's a very welcome distraction from the doldromes, and we both know how extremely lucky he was to land with the most benevolent buccaneers he could have found. It might not be sustainable in the long run, but I'm genuinely surprised at how well they fit together.
