Yeah, oh, I've always wanted shinies to make a little more sense! Which is why I got so happy when the more recent generations started really thinking about what shinies looked like rather than just, like, inverting the colors or whatever.
And shiny Smoliv's a no brainer for me; it's both sensible and one of my favorite foods!
