I thought the look was more in response to "When have I ever steered you wrong?" and he's enumerating Wrong-Steering Time Number 832 (in a series of 12,756--collect them all! Trade them with your friends!): "Oh yes, and you neglected to mention the carnivorous daisies along the walkway up to the Hut of the Happy Fun Witch... who was neither happy nor fun when we got there."

Still, no matter how hard he tries to get out of it, he'll end up on that quest.
