"Yesterday
Is not quite what it could've been
As were most of all the days before
But I swear today
With every breath I'm breathing in
I'll be trying to make it so much more
Cause it seems I get so hung up on
The history of what's gone wrong
And the hope of a new day
Is sometimes hard to see (what you see)
And though I'm finally catching onto it
And now the past is just a conduit
And the light there at the end is
Where I'll be
Cause I'm on the up and up"

dbear was having a really bad day recently, on both a emotional and physical level. It was late night when I heard, and late lastnight night when I felt like doodling something in attempt to make someone feel at least a tiny bit better. If art can do that, even if at least a tiny amount, then I find it worth doing. Especially if it's just 12am with spare time.
Interpreting life with optimism and love, and being grateful for what and who you have is what I do. This is one of the reasons I instantly connected with dBear, cause he tackles life and interprets it similarly.
To quote him, "'shit happens' but happiness takes work".
Don't sweat the small stuff, fuzzies! <3
ps. I totally got his favorite tree/flower. :)

Oh I agree that spontaneous moments are great, but even those take work. It takes effort from you and your friends to BE spontaneous and accept spontaneity.
I think the message is more just about how bad things happen, but you gotta be proactive in life to get happiness. Good relationships bring most people happiness, and in the grand scheme of things, good relationships take "work" to maintain.
The phrase isn't necessarily excluding specific moments of spontaneity. :)
Thanks a lot!

Dude...just wow...
you sure know how to bring emotion to your pieces, I think this is what irks me the most about not being able to draw well myself, Seeing you guys make gestures like this, art trades just cause you feel like it to bring them a smile, that my friend is art. I wish i could do the same.
Thanks for all the hardwork you do Dbear looks quite majestic here

art is a beautiful thing. It always puts a smile on my face when I'm feeling down ^^
This is really kind of you, I saw in his journal that he hadn't been feeling well... I hope he's at least a little better. I was worried :<
it seems weird because I don't even really know him but... I'm just that kind of person :c I hate when bad things happen to good people.
this is very peaceful and beautiful, I like it a lot :)

Does it say "Studio" or "Pro" or something? I'm a bit confused about the different versions.
Anyhow, I've been been making plans to get a tablet PC, as a kind of portable, casual art device, and I think ArtRage would work well for that. I tried a demo of ArtRage 2 or 3 recently, and it actually almost had too many features and settings etc. - To me, part of the appeal of that software lies in its simplicity and ease of use. I don't know, I might just stick with the original ArtRage 1, which I've already used a bit in the past. Seems enough for sketching, don't know if it will be good enough for speedpaints and such, though. :/

Hm, I looked at some interface screenshots of Sketchbook Pro just recently, and it didn't do much for me. Looked a bit too much like Photoshop or similar programs to me - Too many sub-windows, settings and distracting thingamabobs. Of course, it's probably not possible to properly judge a program just based on some pictures, so maybe I'll see if I can find a demo or something and try it out myself.
I'll probably stick with ArtRage 1 or 2, though. Since I'm getting a somewhat older tablet PC, it's also a matter of how hardware-hungry the software is, and how well the computer will be able to handle it.

Sketchbook pro has sort of a weird interface, (similar to SAI painter actually), but where sketchbook pro shines, is in the FEEL it has when sketching. I've gotten use to photoshop, where I can do it, but if I were given a choice, I would not hesitate to choose to sketch in sketchbook pro. :)
the old OpenCanvas program is a really light program, that sketches really nice (though it's a program weak in features and can sometimes be unstable). :)

I really like the lighting earlier. I was going to comment the other day...but now you did the whole thing about not flipping out, I WILL COMMENT. If I sound like a total idiot, it's because I woke up recently. O_O
I really like this pic a lot. I like the tree, too, because there's really just this relationship with the color that makes me go, "Yay!" However, I think that this would have looked a little better if the line width at the top with the horns had thinned out. Although that black gives it such a nice contrast, I think it thinning it down really would have made this picture in harmony with the background, giving it a better sense of depth. You know, the whole weight of the picture/balance.
I adore all that reflected light. I also think the shoulders should come out a bit more with the thickness of the neck. Not like it terribly matters too much cuz I think it's a good pic anyway. Ahaha, I wanna go back to sleep...zzzzz.

Hehe, well thanks for taking the time to comment! :)
I can see where you're gettin at with the thinning of the lines! I think that's a perfectly viable suggesstion that would have been a good result too! :) Kinda incorporate the lighting a little more with that :)
Thanks a lot :) The lighting dynamics were definitely something I was thinking about from the start of this piece. Yeah the shoulders aren't too drawn in, but I definitely want them broad for a BIG OL BEAR! :)
Thanks a lot for the feedback!
