Dungeon Crawl: Closing In (by yoshitoki92)

Finally escaped from that consuming goo. That was not an enjoyable experience. I'm going to be feeling sticky under my scales for months, I just know it. Damn, I can already feel the stuff drying on my wings. Do you have any idea how uncomfortable stiff wings are? Well, at least that bit's over...
...into the next room, and I'm immediately greeted by the sound of grinding gears and stone on stone. Any veteran adventurer worth their EXP knows what that means. The door slams shut behind me and the walls begin to close in. Edging closer and closer to the middle of the room, I start scouting around, inspecting the grate, the floor, every single brick in the wall for a weak spot or release mechanism. There's always a release mechanism. Whoever built the trap would feel awful silly if they were caught in it and hadn't installed a release mechanism, right?
The walls are moving faster than is remotely comfortable, and wherever the release is, I'm not finding it. Maybe I could through a skull into the gears to stop them? Nah, I remember that green-clad prince dude telling me about how that would never work. Jam my sword in them? That would only end up giving me a broken sword.
... um um um UM UM...
