I work retail, the good news is that they've spread the sales out over a longer period to keep shoppers coming in at a steady, but slower pace, so instead of being swamped on days like Black Friday we just have a month and a half of moderately above average activity. Also we don't have that "all I want for Christmas is you" song on our music rotation, and we at least have several different versions of Rudolf and Frosty so it doesn't feel TOO repetitive.

So, long as you don't have a version of "So This Is Christmas". That song makes me wanna go ballistic every time I hear it, all 22 versions of it.

Now, Eartha Kitt's version of "Santa Baby" was pretty good. At least, I liked it.

I've seen my time in hell. Even before then, I tried to give retail and other low-paid workers decent treatment since I first started working in movie theaters.

This is way too true.
I'd say that 90% of people that work retail HATE Christmas music for this very reason.

One good thing about being a shut-in... I don't have aggressive bell ringers asking for my money to use to attack LGBTQ+ people. You know, like myself.

We find we have far more in common with our straight friends that the current Alphabet Mafia.

For some reason I've never been accosted by an aggressive bell ringer... but that can't be said of members of the Alphabet Mafia.

I used to be part of the Salvation Army. It's a toxic environment, especially against "The Alphabet Mafia", even when they're not part of it.

And, yes, I've also had aggressive ringers in my face before, during, and after.

Don't forget the thing that makes the Christmas store music playlists so much worse than the ones used the rest of the year: There are generally about ¼ to ⅓ the length of the regular playlists, so you keep hearing the same songs again and again.

It probably wouldn't be so bad if you only heard the songs a couple times a day rather than a dozen times per day.

Oh yes, I worked seven Christmases in a row before I got into the electrical trade. Gods, talk about a nightmare....

I worked a couple of Holiday seasons at Radio Shark. It wasn't quite that bad; the second year I took a vacation from my "Have Gun, Will Travel" day job and just stood there and wrote sales tickets for eleven days. The commissions paid better than working security at the nuke plant.

I worked in retail and as a route truck salesmen... Christmas could be a blessing or a curse... all depended on how you looked at it.

I bet someone could make a killing by doing "Happy Hour" shopping where there is NO Christmas music for a four hour period.

I used to work in phone-based credit card servicing several years ago. Starting with Black Friday and through Christmas was the busiest time of the year; most often people trying to figure out why their card got declined.

I don't mind any part of the consumerism aspect of the holiday season, I only care about what the season is really about: celebrating the birth of Christ and spreading the universal message of hope and peace through giving rather than receiving along with spending quality time together with close friends and family is what i thing Xmas is truly about. Have a Happy Christmas!

I do most of my Christmas shopping online because most of the people on my list are out of state, and this way I don't run the risk of hearing The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

I also wonder how a canine heritage affects their senses. I doubt they have dog-level hearing, but I could imagine it's good enough to make visiting a city a bit uncomfortable because of the noise and smells.
