This blank area on my passenger door frame was occupied by an "applique" which may have been loosened by the local car wash. I finally redeemed the free car wash for the recent oil change. The problem became obvious once rolling home on the expressway. The part rattled in the breeze until it snapped off. The body shop ordered a replacement and taped over the open slots. The replacement with cost over $100, but it will get snapped on in moments.
