Expressions Practice 2: This time it's Cyrcas
Got in the mood to do this little thing again as a break from the big serious pics, and this time was Cyrcas's turn to mug for the camera.
Same method as last time, 14 expressions chosen at random, sampled from the same pics as before (re-rolling on the rare event that I got a repeat from last time), as well as a free space for whatever I'd think of for the last face.
Again, a few notes:
-Dunno if it's just me having gotten better since the last one, my decision to draw Cyrcas with his hair, or the choice to use generally more dynamic angles instead of copy-pasting the same head 14 times, but I feel this one looks way better than the previous practice. I'm leaning on one of the latter two because I can't have gotten that much better in just a couple months (or at least my self-esteem insists). Maybe his shorter snout gives him a flatter face that's easier to map human expressions onto? I dunno.
-Didn't get the same reticence to showing him in pain or having horrible emotions as I did with Shiro last time, I don't know why. Maybe that seal was broken last time and I'm desensitized or something.
-In the process of this, I stumbled on a new little tweak to how I draw the top curve of his curtain of fabulous hair that feels like it gives the whole thing a lot more volume and body, and I'm definitely keeping that moving forward.
-First expression (upper left) is kinda my favorite, closely followed by 4th (puppy dog eyes). Do kinda don't like 3rd (heart eyes), but not sure why or how I'd fix it. Maybe it's just the radical weirdness of having non-pupil shapes where pupils should go.
-Boy is it going to be a heckin' challenge to do one of those with Tolenn. Oh well, that's a problem for future me, and that guy is a sucker.
