"Talofa, aiga! Fa'afetai tele mo fa'amanuiaga i nai masina talu ai! Sa faigata tele, ae o a'u ma lo'u aiga sa lelei lava le tau o le afa! O le a ta toe fo'i i le fale!"
To show my appreciation to MissJetSet for the gift art she gave me, I commissioned her for this piece of Aiya. Something I've been wanting to have done since the Lahaina wildfires back in August and my gal had to flee Maui. It's been months since she and her family left and sought refuge in American Samoa, but she's been in good spirits since then, and just recently got the chance to return home to survey the damage done to both her home and business (her neighborhood was completely destroyed, but her shop was only partially damaged). She'll be able to rebuild both (and prevent outsiders from buying up her land…yeah, that's a thing, sadly), but it will take quite a long time to do both. In the meantime, she's been taking in the atmosphere of her father's homeland and hometown, and being that it's close to summertime there, she gets to experience the summer she never got back in Lahaina, not that there's much difference being it's the Pacific Islands and all.
Aiya Ottar'a is mine (adopted from
