i played through and beat The Simpsons arcade game earlier and it was a wild experience, all the bosses and enemies feeling like an interpretation of the show on its first draft with no future context for what the series would become
i love the birds being a recurring background detail, and the return of the Shifty-Eyed Baby made me laugh way too much
also the dream level basically being manifestations of every character's stereotype and fears and then ending with a bowling ball boss was brilliant and amazing
the later bosses have way too long phases, but it's an arcade game so you gotta get those quarters flowing, but overall it was a fun time
