Character

Zakara grew up in one of the nomadic clan on her home planet Kaya. Her clan distinguished themselves from the surrounding clans by travelling barefooted, an uncommon thing in Likaya culture, where proper footwear is commonplace for their long hikes. The Indigo Barefeet clan believe that going barefoot keeps them more in touch with nature, something that runs deep in their clan culture. Wherever they settle, it's often near or inside forests. Their clan believes in the sanctity of peace and love, and will avoid violence at any cost. They have great knowledge about which plants and herbs are edible, and it fostered Zakara's passion for cooking early on in her life. As a child, she had tasted a lot of different dishes from other clans their clan came across. However, her outlook on life changed when she was near Kaya's spaceport for the first time. She gotten into contact with aliens for their first time, and more importantly, their cuisine. She enjoyed it so much, she vowed to get on a spaceship when she had grown up, and discover a whole culinary universe out there.

She spent her first years in space among a Likaya spacefaring merchant clan, going from planet to planet, trading their products from Kaya for other valuables from the rest of the universe. Although she passed by a lot of places, she barely picked up anything about their culture, and she was practically confined within the clan she was travelling with. It felt like this had been a bad choice after all and looked for a way to get out. That's when her life changed when their ship made a stop at Bifröst station near Terra. She heard that this planet was a new player in the galactic community, and this sounded like a better environment for her to thrive. She figured she would be surrounded by people who were just as curious about the universe as she is. She was relieved from her ship's duty, and from Starfleet's recruitment department, she heard that the UFS Pioneer had been looking for a chef cook. She took the job, and shortly, her curiosity had been fulfilled when she found she had a ton of Terran recipes to learn. During her time on board, she learned many more recipes, both Terran and alien, and the crew is appreciating her cooking. She has been teaching the other cooks in the kitchen the tricks of the trade, and on some days, she takes duty as a waitress to socialise more with the crew. She found a particular interest in Turash-Kae, the Chtyruce chief engineer of the ship and single mom. Although she has a crush on her, she hasn't asked her out yet.
