And unlike a certain Ms. Bourgeois, she will retain the Miraculous for her tenure and WON'T abuse her position as a leader of her people. But enough provoking the Chloe stan, it's LORE TIME!
"Luri's natural calm and patience made her the perfect Bee Bearer as her Venom would be able to paralyze anybody with a clear shot to the torso. When fending off poachers, she complimented Alexander, the then Ladybug Bearer, by stunning the most troublesome humans to thin the herd best. The Law of the Jungle forebade needless bloodshed of humans lest they return with a vengence and thus one who was able to keep them still was invaluable.
Furthermore, she was one of few bearers who knew of specific fighting styles for one's humanoid form. Cerena would be also known by another name: "Raksha." This demonic nickname spoke to the tranquil fury that would be invoked in her behind her exercise in patience. What would take to bring forth such anger is a question that a select few have regretted to learn first hand.
Pollen was a perfect match for her in being a cordial Kwami to discuss plans with as well as to shoot the bull over a girl's night out.
Both Ladybug and Cerena worked so well together that the spark of love between them set a romance ablaze. When more poachers started to get the message that this was not their hunting grounds, Alexander and Luri started a family together. They bore two male wolf, Akru and Sura, before a surprise wandered into their lives. A man-cub, far too young to fend for itself in the Jungle, had made its way to their den and began to drink for Luri's teet in his thrist.
Thus... Mowgli became a part of their lives. But not without a considerable fight. Shere Khan advocated against it and declared that the then little man-cub would become the Pack's undoing. Quite a few wolves were convinced and casted their votes. Luri was about to give Pollen the word to transform her if things swung out of her favor, her motherly instincts invoking the demon within. However, Bagheera and Baloo came forth to offer a tribute to the pack as part of their vote. They owed too much to Alexander and Luri from their battles together to let their adoptive son go to Shere Khan.
However, Shere Khan, then a Pack alley, challenged the parents to a duel as Bearers for one final say in the matter and transformed into Lungri. With Tabaqui akumatized into his champion, it seemed like an uphill battle but Ladybug and Cerena worked together nearly perfectly to show how much they were willing to sacrifice. Many hearts, some still hesistent, in the pack were won over and their Little Frog was allowed to live among them. However, it'd be sometime before Mowgli could join them as a legitimate Pack Member.
What happened to Cerena? The loss of Alexander and the betrayal of Shere Khan wounded Luri's heart deeply. She'd soldier on and see to it that her boys grew up into the wolves her husband knew they would become. With Vermillion gone, she even found time to be there for Lala despite her mean front. However, she renounced her Miraculous not just to focus on them but to alleviate the heartache. Raksha would never been seen for a long time.
However, the Peacock Miraculous falling into the wrong hands and targeting her son would prompt Luri to stand by no longer. She would take it upon herself to lead a specific team of her sons and Lala. She'd be keen on the big picture and trained them vigorously. These new battles would show Akela that she had the chops to become the next Leader of the Pack and the Guardian of the Miracle Box."
Luri here would be an homage of Tommy Oliver from Power Rangers: Dino Thunder where an old warrior comes out of retirement to fight one last battle. Plus, it's always an archetype rarely afforded to mothers in fiction even now. She's one of my favorite characters of the Anime because she has such a chill that belies her melancholy as well as her strength as a hunter.
