Nico finally arrived today. Time to show him off!
A few more angles can be found by clicking here, these three were the three that came out the best and felt most presentable. I realize they're not the most artistic shots ever but they do a good job of showing how he looks. (Hopefully these are just artistic *enough* to pass for some sort of "still life" and not just be one of those "hey look at my stuff" photos, and not be violating ToS on FA or Weasyl for being one of those "hey look at my stuff" photos.)
Of course I had to get a shot of him emerging from the box. As we all know by now, Nico would scoff at the idea of playing in a cardboard box but would 100% hide in a box if he could find one big enough, and blush and growl when he is inevitably caught sitting in the box with his blanket and his laptop.
I'm not sure how to write a proper review (I'm gonna try anyways!) but I'd be happy to answer questions if anybody has any.
Overall I'm very satisfied, although I will acknowledge that since they didn't have the sort of rusty orange "fox" color I usually use when drawing Nico available I opted for something a bit more orange (the available color palette is a bit limited so I'm aware minor compromises have to be made and I'm fine with that). He is 30 inches tall, the stuffing very firm yet still soft and nice to hug, and he able to stand up on his own while leaning against the wall, like the photos show. Detailing is really good, crafting and materials feel very high quality, the material is a very nice soft velvety sort of material (I'm a cartoonist not a craftsman so I don't know if there's a technical name for it) rather than a faux fur.
My drawing style doesn't translate super well to the third dimension but they still did a really good job with it!
My final score would be 4.5 fox emojis 🦊 out of 5, gotta deduct half a point for inaccuracies in color but I am still extremely happy with him. It sounds kinda weird and immature but I somehow feel "fulfilled" in being able to hug Nico.
I would definitely recommend Budsies, this plush will make a fine addition to my collection.
Maybe in the future I'll get another custom plush from them since I'm very happy with how Nico turned out, I'd quite like a plush Buck Donner or Domec Domitius as well (I wonder if they'd have any issue with making a fat plush deer man with bright orange undies with a bullseye on the butt...).
(Unfortunately, despite having basic competence with my phone camera when it comes to taking photos of plush foxes in the woods, I don't really have anywhere good in the house to take photos... maybe someday I can take him outside with me and take some pics under better lighting and more interesting backgrounds than my bedroom, get something a bit more artistic going.)

He came out really well, I just had to show him off. It's great being able to physically interact with one of my comfort characters, as strange as that may sound. Although, now it's a bit confusing because if I start talking about Nico, am I talking about Dominiverse Nico, Sims Nico, or Plush Nico...?
Now I kinda want to put him in my car and do that meme with the note on the window...
"Do NOT break the window, the AC is on, he has Mountain Dew and Cheetos*, and he is listening to Ghost."
(*I'm a broke boi and would provide him with the Walmart brand equivalents because paying five bucks for a bag of chips is bullshit.)
Definitely money well spent, I try to put a bit aside each month so I have a bit of a Nice Things Fund for, well, nice things, he just happened to gobble most of that up... And that money would have come in handy because *of course* the car needs maintenance soon too and a friend of mine has commissions open and I'd like to throw money at them. Might be time to open commissions up again myself...
Still, I would say if you've ever been considering commissioning from Budsies, go for it! Most of your character designs use the exact sort of bright, vivid colors they have available and they do a good job with the chubby characters.
You're not the only one to mention that he might be more padding than stuffing, though... I'm not sure if that's a consequence of the refsheet I submitted, or just a stylistic thing on the part of Budsies, but my roommate got a plush from them a few years back that has a similarly protruding belly and backside, "more thick than wide" might be a good way to describe it.

I ended up taking him to work with me. Twice. The first time mostly because one of the cool managers has a kid that draws a lot (you know, the actual target demographic for Budsies lol) and I thought she'd like to see their work in person and inspect the quality--and the second time because a couple other people were like "no you did NOT bring a stuffed animal in here AGAIN" (long story) and my response was "aight, bet".
He was a huge hit both times. May have potentially driven business to Budsies, too.
Oh, I know exactly what you mean... His pants are separate from his body, but are sewn on, so we won't be getting any pics to confirm or deny it any time soon!
(If they ever did come apart somehow, though, I'd legit like to find some jeans in a baby size to put on him, that might work!)

I am very happy with him! It was definitely worth saving up for and I'd like to get more characters made like this in the future.
Given that some of my characters are a bit on the shorter side, and they do have a 16" option (Nico here is the upgraded 30" option), maybe I should look into getting a huggable version of a character like Jacques Duncan or Charley McDermott at some point. On the other hand, the big one is perfect cuddling size and I think I'd like to see how they'd do with a character like Buck Donner or Domec Domitius.
Now that I think about it, I suppose it is a bit odd that I went with Nico Reynard, a character that's only been with me for about 3 years and I didn't have a whole lot of interest in until recently rather than a character like Chance Whitefang, Jacques Duncan, or Charley Mcdermott that have been around for closer to 20 years, but Nico did become very important to me recently and basically saved my interest in art a couple months back so he deserves it.
Weird rambling aside, I definitely recommend checking them out if you ever wanted to bring one of your own characters into the third dimension.

I've been aware of them for a few years, and considered getting something from them for a very long time. The delaying factors were "which of my characters do I get?" as I have so many possible candidates (Nico Reynard really was a nothing character for most of his short existence, I'd previously been considering a character like Charley McDermott or Jacques Duncan or one of the hyena kids or even Dominic Mephitto in skunkdog form, Buck Donner, or Domec Domitius as a candidate because they have been with me far longer and hold a lot of significance) and my very limited ability to set money aside in the Nice Things Fund (which always wound up needing to be spent on getting scammed by the local dentist, or paying for car repairs/maintenance, or some other unexpected bill).
I do definitely recommend Budsies, though! Before taxes and shipping and stuff (which may vary based on location), the price of a 30" plush like this is "only" $189 as of when I ordered him at the beginning of November, the basic 16" ones are $129. Quality is quite good, and while I did pay a little extra to get him here before Christmas, it seems usual turnaround is about 6-8 weeks regardless. Parents and children is definitely their target demographic but they make a LOT of money off furries, to the point where they do pricier custom commissions with fancier materials and faux fur and stuff but I was already on a budget and what I got is already amazing.
