Darling is a Nazorian Psychodust Moth! as the name indicates, this species of gigantic moth come from the planet Nazoria, and this character in particular, Darling, comes from a long family line of moths that have been living in Valicia since after the war between valicians and nazorians. these moths have a single horn on their forehead, as opposed to two. Nazorians with two horns are exclusively bipedal creatures with opposable thumbs. these moths can reach up to 6ft tall in height, not counting their ear-antennae and wings! because of their size, they breathe via lungs located on the upper section of their abdomen, and actually have an endoskeleton to support their body.
they have the Curse Magic ability to infuse their wing scales and spread them in the air. anybody inhaling the scales will be temporarily granted with telepathy for a couple hours. this spell has to be used with care however, as those inexperienced with telepathy will quickly find themselves overwhelmed by the thoughts of all living beings surrounding them. special squadrons of Nazorians in the past used this ability to sow chaos in the battlefield, as most valicians were not trained for this. in the wild, these moths use this ability to confuse predators, and without it the moth is actually very defenseless, being a heavyweight creature with slow flight capability and a fairly weak hide.
the moths are intelligent but incapable of physical speech, so their telepathy allows them to communicate as well.
finally, their second defense mechanism is the "fangs" next to their mouth. these are actually their silk glands; organs where they shoot a sticky silk that temporarily traps targets. it isnt very strong but it serves as a distraction. the healthier and better fed a moth is, the more silk they can produce. a psychodust moth feeds mainly on fruit, carrion, or dead meat. they're unable to process living flesh properly.
psychodust moths reproduce via laying eggs inside her partner after they've been fertilized. usually a male psychodust moth has a brood pouch not unlike that of a seahorse's. however, so long as the creature is warm blooded and can fit the female's eggs, they can lay the eggs on any other species, of any sex. the moth will be paying close attention to her egg host for the next six months as the eggs gestate. a psychodust moth lays only 30 eggs at most, and they're gelatinous in texture. the resulting baby is born as a moth, as there isn't a larval stage.
