The origin of Zoya is one of blood. Zoya is an Alpha Class Arc-Tech Wolf created by the startup company, Arc-Tech.
Arc-Tech had researched the concepts and stories of werewolves and found promise in their power, but not in their myths. So, they decided that they would created a superior werewolf, not one of flesh and fantasy, but one of science and steel. A new wave of super soldier built by them, sold by them, and Arc-Tech would finally make a name for themselves.
Using their home base, a remote forest world far from prying eyes, Arc-Tech constructed a factory that would produce these new wolves for them. They poured every resource they could afford into this project: the design, advanced AI, massive physical strength, tough armor, and the arsenal for the Alpha Class so it could be a versatile weapon and lead packs into battle. Doing away with silly weaknesses that a werewolf would suffer like silver, as a machine, they integrated EMP resistant systems and anti-virus programs. Arc-Tech even included alternative means of power restoration such as solar absorption and a bio-energy converter, with nanites to help maintain the wolf's internals and repair damage. They did not want their prize invention to be taken down easily.
Upon the successful construction of Zoya, Arc-Tech invited practically everyone in the company to the factory to celebrate and witness her activation, ranging from the CEO and the Board, the Investors who supported the project, all the way down to common working employee. And when Zoya, the Alpha Class Arc-Tech Wolf was activated...
She malfunctioned.
When designing her mind, Arc-Tech wanted Zoya to utilize absolute brutality and savagery when in combat, as savage as they read the old storied werewolves to be. Unfortunately, that savagery took dominance of her, and sent her into a uncontrollable rage. She attacked and slaughtered the employees, investors, and other innocent people without hesitation. All she could see was red, all she could think was to kill, and she would allow none to escape. The company built her to be so powerful, but in their pride, they did not install a means of stopping their own weapon. People who fought were cut down, those who tried to take the escape shuttles only found smoldering wrecks with her waiting, and those who hid trembled as Zoya prowled and hunted each one of them.
Arc-Tech was completely obliterated, with no survivors. The factory that was once meant to be their crowning achievement now stands as a silent grave.
It took weeks for Zoya's power reserve to give out in her savage state and shut her down, but thanks to the solar absorption power cells, she would recover but it took time, far too much time as 372 years had passed. This time, when she activated for the second time, her mind was clear and her thoughts were her own. She had awoken with a consciousness, questioning where she was, what she was, and completely unaware of what she had done earlier.
