Things sure are a lot different back home for poor old "Prince Chimera" aren't they? Strange festive rituals with names and terms that ponies would be terribly unfamiliar with. Such as Christmas, which was the first thing to come to mind when he saw snow about Ponyville and Canterlot.
Unfortunately, that means having to run his mouth and try to explain it Princess Twilight Sparkle, who is no doubt the best and worst person to try and spin a lie about your backstory too. Looks like the poor Prince is going to be tripping over his tongue until he can get that story straight...
