Fourth part of the prologue, and look who it be. Someone who the boy doesn't know, even though the dragon seems to be awfully confident she was looking for him, but doesn't seem to know him well too. Very odd...
Through the time I was out there was a sort of a dream, seeming to last for so immensely long. It was as if I floated within a vast, dark space without any weight, yet at times it felt like I was pulled in some direction, with an occasional, washed out voice, completely impossible to discern apart from whispers and slight hums. Maybe it was a reflection of what was going on with me in reality, given that when I woke up I was somewhere else completely, still in the forest though, but most certainly a different part of it. The hues of the area completely changed, the green having turned into various shades of orange, and other colours of autumn. The moment I was awake I took a deep breath and painfully rose to a seat. It felt like I was frozen like this in that spot for who knows how long, and none can truly tell. I remained sitting like this for a bit, getting a hold of what happened that night and if I even was in the same forest still, because it certainly didn’t look like it. I would stand up, all my joints moving with a struggle, not necessarily painful, but uncomfortable, and nearly exhausting in itself.
Staying in place I stretched and moved every part of my body I could just so I can continue moving forward with more ease, though I wouldn’t exactly know where to. A slight amount of panic would ensue as I realized I was without my backpack now, meaning not only was I more lost than I could ever imagine, but without improvisation I’d probably starve too. It’s not like I knew anything about survival! I felt weak again, almost faint as I tried getting a hold of myself. For once it was so eerily quiet, yet I was so familiar with something going on in my head that I was actually freaking out when there was absolutely no noise. Walking a few steps forward I fell to my knees again, heart pounding, vision dark as I was sure I was done for, destined to walk through endless woods for the rest of my moments. Then all of it stopped, a flash of a voice going through my head once more, but more clear than ever before like… someone was standing right behind me!
I turn my head only to see something seemingly massive towering over me, my eyes widening and my breathing seizing for a split moment. I didn’t want to move, it’s gaze was locked onto me, and it’s eyes were huge too! I was so frozen in place that I couldn’t even look away! The voice in my head continued, so clear that it might have been coming from it, but it was still in my head, unless… “I did not think I’d see you wake at this point!” it exclaimed quite enthusiastically. It was a female voice, the same one I’ve been hearing throughout all this time, and- “Yes, you’re quite correct. I am the voice inside your head! Or am I~? Maybe I’m just a dragon passerby about to gobble you up!” She completely cut out my thoughts! Could she read my mind?! Now that was even more terrifying than what she actually said… wait, what did she say?? “Y-you… you’re a dragon? A-a dragon, an actual one. I didn’t… think they were real u-uhh… d-don’t eat me?” I replied with the worst stammer I ever felt in my life, and it was so cliché too! Ugh. I’ve read about dragons before though from one of the little story books they’ve had at the orphanage. It said about them being creatures made up from mankind’s biggest fears, divided into ones that live like any other being on the planet, and some that are ancient, governing over the aspects of the world itself. But it was all stories though, I wouldn’t think them real! This one was coloured dark blue, though darker at the front half of her body, large wings with yellow/gold markings at the end of them, similarly to behind her eyes, which were purple by themselves. Overall she was nearly a meter taller than me, and generally dwarfed me with her size. “Well I’m totally considering it so you better come up with some good excuse!” She responded, sounding quite sarcastic, but what would I know, she’s no human, she could totally mean it! I’ve had nothing to reply with though, I did literally come to this forest expecting not to really… survive it, guess the task was kind of beyond me from the start. She’d start to circle around me slowly with a proud look on her face, keeping her eye on me almost constantly, all while I couldn’t find words to say anything.
-Okay, I’ll stop scaring you so much or you are going to faint on me again, I won’t actually eat you - She said with a slight chuckle. Didn’t even know you could do that with your mind.
-You can… read my thoughts? - I asked with a quiet tone, still very unsure of… anything, I couldn’t possibly know what she was planning
-Mmm… not exactly, I just have a good hunch. What’s your name, little one?
-H-huh? Oh um… my name is Kamil - I answered, slightly surprised. I guess it’s also common courtesy for dragons too. - What’s yours? - I asked in turn.
-I do not have a name yet, not for you anyway. You might have figured that I’ve been looking for you for a while, but I did not expect to find you like… this.
-What do you mean? What did you expect to find? - I asked, slightly confused, though it immediately made me think back to the fact that I felt so alien to all the humans out there.
-Hmm… I can’t tell you right now. But worry not, I will fill you in as we go, the first thing we have to do is get out of this cursed forest.
-You um… you want me to trust you? - I was a little reluctant to ask, but if there was any doubt it would come out then.
-Well, you don’t seem to have much other choice do you~?
I went quiet after that, and slowly gathered myself up. I still was quite dumbfounded just looking at her, refusing to believe my own eyes. Now there were even more questions to answer. From the sound of it she already knew who I was but I hadn’t a clue! Was this related to why I woke up in this forest in the first place, not knowing who or where I was? I suppose she had the answers. She gestured to me to follow her, and while skeptical, it’s not like I really had anywhere else to go. I felt safer but at the same time not so much, probably because I was so in the dark, but it seems that whatever happens to me now is for her to decide… and that’s where my uncertainty lies.
