It has been pointed out to me that there's not many likeable characters in this story.

It fits that it's in black and white Rox, after all it is kind of a noir story, and you're right..you have very few likable characters which is kind of refreshing. I guess the best character you have here is the Wicker Bird. I always liked him and could never understand why he hangs around Jet even though Jet seems to truly care for him. Also..wouldn't he be getting very very lethargic in the cold even though flying there would require less effort?

Birds are warm-blooded, so I don't see any reason the cold would slow Wicker Bird down. Feathers are just as good or better than fur as an insulator.
