When it comes to maintaining a salt water tank how do you know how much salt to mix in with the water?

ok to answer your first question i use what is called a hydrometer to measure the salt gravity that is in the water. which i have to do almost everyday because of the size of my tank, now in my 55 gallon tank it was alot easer to take care of for the salt. to answer the second the fish you see in the picture is now dead, he jumped out of the tank while i was at work, but since then i have added another normal orange pirk. clown fish, and a scooter blenny. i may in the future put one more fish in there
