This is a watercolor costume rendering done for my theatre graphics class.
Our assignment was to design a costume for the Queen of the Night from the famous opera "The Magic Flute." (Go watch the Queen of the Night aria on YouTube, it's AMAZING)
Anyway, I was thinking about the assignment and went "Well, if she's the Queen of the Night, why not make her an owl?" Her entrances are supposed to be really dramatic, and a big pair of wings would be awesome. Her design is based off of both barn and snowy owls, as I was going for my Rule of Cool than species accuracy.
. . . I really want to make this costume now.
