Ogres.
Some Dwarfs say that Ogres are the ancestral enemy to Dwarfs. Though, most agree that Ogres are the ancestral enemy to EVERY other sentient race. However you slice it, Ogres are the aggressive, larger cousins to Goblins. They tend to live in tribal, nomadic communities, but it's uncommon for Ogres to strike it out on their own for one reason or another. Some seek glory, others to build their own tribes with their own ideals, and some are just loners by nature and only seek others for their breeding season.
Ogres are an odd bunch like that, not caring for things like government of community and only really band together for simple ideals and needs. "It's easier to hunt Dire Elks in a group." "We can band coin together to afford better weapons." Some tribes only last until the agreed upon goal is made, and others are life long bonds. Ogres don't have a 'king' or 'queen', but a few Ogres do serve under a chief, either out of respect, loyalty, or the promise of safety.
Such as the young Noch Bitterbone, the recently named chief of the Stonecrusher Tribe, recently succeeding his father, the retired Ocks Bitterbone. As the newly appointed chief, it's his duty to handle negotiations with the Dwarf Overseer of the nearby fortress-city, Rolf Lockhunter. Rolf was an old friend of Ocks - an awkward friendship, but the Dwarf and Ogre got along for the most part. In a way, Rolf was almost like an uncle to Noch.
Of course, that didn't stop them from butting heads and arguing over what a fair deal would be. Noch was almost like a clone of Ocks - just younger, with more energy, and more willing to make demands - some reasonable, most not - during these negotiations. Rolf might be older, but he hasn't got gray hairs yet though! Thankfully, their differences can be solved calmly and maturely.
