Now here’s a shotgun that has stood the test of time, first produced in 1950, the Remington 870 was what made shotguns main stream!
There is virtually an 870 for every role imaginable, like sporting, hunting, self-defense, law-enforcement, military, you name it there’s a 870 made for it in mind and there are far too many different models for me to list here.
Not only that, but it is the most mass produced shotgun in the world selling more than 11 million units.
I may be a little biased since it was my first firearm, but if you could only have one gun to use for the rest of your life, I would highly suggest the Remington 870.

I own the 870, the 500 and a Winchester 1300 Ex-Milwaukee marked boom stick, all three have advantages.
My 870, its basically universal, my 500, Ex-Arizona prison riot gun with max load of 8 plus one, my 1300 is satin finish for boat use. I recently acquired a Mossberg 590A1 just for the ability to add a M-7 bayonet to it for psychological damage towards unrepentant black cladded and masked rats if the shit hits the fan this summer. Between the racking and the bayonet, its job is done.
