Damn it, nostalgia. Why did you have to make me down bad for the Madagascar franchise?! Although I hear it is beloved in Eastern Europe, especially Poland, so maybe I’m onto something.

I still think Madagascar as a franchise has a lot more going for it than it may seem at first glance. Sure, it’s a silly goofy talking animal thing that some people at Dreamworks thought would be funny if they made, (At least that is my guess, frankly, what’s going on in a studio can be as unpredictable as the success or failure of a project itself.) but you’d be surprised over the kind of stories they've told from this world! Madagascar Escape 2 Africa has got to be one of the best examples of that. Not only did that film bless us with Moto Moto, but it also made Alex (or Alekai as he was originally named by his family in Africa) a way more interesting character and even adds on more to the first movie in a way! Alex really feels more than just the “Ben Stiller Lion” in Madagascar 2. Like holy crap, he gets taken away by poachers as a little cub and his dad gets shot in the ear! I did not remember the ear shot part at all! They even showed blood and everything!

So yeah. The Madagascar franchise really needs more love than it gets. Even if we’re probably not going to get anything new out of the franchise anytime soon sadly. (Everyone and their grandma knows what went down between Will Smith, Chris Rock, and Jada Pinkett Smith.)
