The membrane that is usually tightly bound around these Kirins necks and tail ends can unfurl, emitting a vibrant light. It's not entirely clear what the purpose of this ability is. It's theorized that they use it to stun predators, though they've been seen unfurling these flaps during funerals or around those they are close with.
