Princess is my neighbor's dog. she's a cairn terrier mix that looks a lot like Benji. My neighbor is a nice guy but hasn't had the time or funds for Princess and she's home alone *a lot*. She hasn't been getting the care or attention she needs and deserves, and he knew that. He really loved her, I felt sorry for him...in fact we asked several times if he might change his mind about rehoming her, but he just couldn't keep her. He's not home enough and is in a tight spot financially. He originally asked us if we might adopt her, but I have four dogs.
Thus started a multi person networking system to help find her a home and/or foster. A good friend of mine in the "animal rescue/rights network" took her in as a foster. After she gets her spayed and up to date on everything she'll start looking for a forever home for her. We took her there today, the top row of pictures are her on her way to her new foster home. She seemed SO happy there! She now has a huge yard to romp around in and lots of furry friends to play with: other dogs, cats and even a bunny. Most importantly, she'll get constant attention where she is now...and homecooking too!
We stayed for a little while to chat and visit with her new foster, and in that time alone Princess made herself a new friend with one of the other dogs, checking out the bunny WuWu and was getting taught her place by one of the cats, lol! Her foster is a good friend, so she'll make sure we're kept updated on how Princess is doing and such. Love that little girl, she's SO sweet. I found it hard to have to give her up to her foster home after just having known her (on a personal level) for a week or so.
