Now that I’ve taken a good look at my commission, one thing I especially love about this piece are the emotions on display.
All werewolf horror movie jokes aside, while I really like how snarly Vincent is in Stages 3-5, if you were to ask me which one is my favorite one, it would actually go to Stage 2. He starts off with a smile, but just as soon as the morph begins, that smile is gone, and there’s a couple of ways I can interpret the expression he was given.
In a setting where he’s maybe fighting alongside other Pokemorphs, he’s using his power of transformation knowing there’s a possibility that his instincts as a Mightyena could potentially overpower him and cause him to lose control of himself. Yet, being that Vincent is also a Gym Leader, he’s going to be defending his home city of Nimbasa with his life, and as he glances at his hand as it starts to become a paw, he’s ready to pull out every last stop to make sure no Team dares threaten his people.
It’s part “you leave me no choice” and part “alright, you asked for it”, and it’s very well done!
