The next day the pack gets up to leave to hunt, it would seem they didn't get a good kill last time. Father stops one of the older wolves from leaving and howls. Loui's ears move a little and he looks over. Father barks a few times and Loui comes running over. "(Here it is kid, are you a human, or a wolf? Are these changes just for your looks and causing you some memory issues? Or will you be able to handle the meal coming your way?)" Connor doesn't follow.
The leaves are starting to make their own change, turning orange, gold, crimson. They flake off as the days and weeks went by, now they have begun to pile up on the ground. A mouse moves about the fallen leaves searching for food. It senses someth- blitz by the red fox! It goes to eat- it hears something, drops the mouse and runs! The pack runs by, in their wake, colorful leaves fly into the air...the mouse moves, gets up, looks around then cleans itself- it gets blitz by the red fox again and carried away.
The pack is on the move, running through the trees. The pack ain't going at full speed right now, which is good for Loui, he is unsure if he'll be able to keep up if they were. Every so often he makes pained sounds, half the time human, other wolf. He is stubbing his fingers and slowing down. The pack stops at one point when father calls out. Loui sits down canine style, his long hair swaying about, but tilts and extends his right foot out. It could be mistaken as a paw, its not quite there yet but still. The callouses are now more like pads, toes are almost in place, big toe is back further and much smaller. Same for his left, paw, which he shuffles to look at. The over all structure of his legs/back legs and feet/paws are almost completely changed.
He then sits back on them and brings up his hand paws one at a time. He doesn't twist them so they point upward, he leaves them dangling and looks at them. His thumbs are a little shorter and turned a little, this is why he can't grab with them anymore. The callouses on his thumbs are not as developed as the others which resemble pads on his fingers and the fusing area that is now passed the second knuckle, but now a thin stretch of skin is ahead of it. His fingers are getting stiff and unlike a few days or so ago when he was picking at the ground, can't move them separately all that well.
Lastly, curling in his fingers, he notices his long nails, his nails are long and broken, some are loose. Only his once big toes no longer have them, they flaked off at some point. Loui whimpers...Father lets him rest as long as he can before he calls the pack to move again.
The pack stops, they begin to sniff about as Loui just watches. Mother notices at one point and barks at him! He is concerned, he doesn't know what he's supposed to do. He begins to sniff around, but his poor senses doesn't catch anything. A youth passes the area he hit up and finds a scent, calls to everyone. Mother rams Loui's left side as she passes while father gently passes. Everyone has the scent and runs off, Loui runs after them. But Loui is falling behind, father looks back and falls back to join him. Just ahead of Loui he waves his tail encouragingly and keeps looking back. Loui grins openly [mouth open, teeth apart, deep breaths, corners of mouth up].
After awhile of searching they seem to detour. The sound of rumbling, grows louder, and louder. Loui wonders "(Where are we going?)" The sound becomes more clear but the young Loui doesn't know what it is till they arrive. Running water. Ahead of them is a river moving at a speed that would be difficult for most. Nearby is a falls. In the center of the river is a small island jam packed with trees. The water is shallow, but the height of a wolf, of Loui, they may get washed down stream.
They stop for a drink, some go jumping as far as they can across then swim the last bit. They make it with effort. Loui gets to the water's edge and wonders "(Can, i make it across?)", giving it an *i'm not liking this//i don't trust this* look, squinting right eye and mouth open only on left side. He is getting side glances. He backs up, father comes over and drinks by him *take the hint* like behavior. Loui looks to him then bends down to sip it, but gets a nose full of bubbly water! He jerks back and coughs! *mmrrr-rumphhh* goes the groaning father.
Loui looks to him again, then pretty much lays down to place just his chin by the water, and sticks his tongue out into the water......But, he is incapable of curling his tongue to hold any water. He whimpers. Father lifts his head and stares at Loui who trys again, and again...he has to stick his mouth down into the water to drink anything. The pack gathers back on the same side and moves on, Loui looks at the island, "(The others can make it...)" he runs back! Father looks, Loui is running up to him "(i won't make it)..."
The pack moves on and a scent is caught! And they take off with a purpose! Loui falls behind as they speed off! He pants and slows, to a...stop, flop......Father looks back, no Loui......
Loui is depressed as he walks back "(i doubt i'll be able to make it back on my own)...-! AAAH-haRrrl!" Father stands there with his head and ears back, eyes squinting *Why'd you yell in my face?* look. Loui lowers. After straightening up, father just stands there. With his young blue eyes, Loui looks into his father's caring golden eyes. Father huffs. Loui stands up straight. He is bigger than he was, he doesn't need to look up to his father as mush as he use to. Before he was much smaller, now his head is more leveled looking into his eyes when standing. Father turns back towards the hunt and moves slowly. Loui repeatedly catches up as father speeds up each time.
When they catch up the hunt is over, they have caught themselves a young deer, a year old maybe. When father arrives they part for him to eat beside his mate. Once they are done the others gather to pick at the remains. Loui is hesitant, a part of him wants to join in, but another part of him thinks he will get sick. Father trys to get him to join in, but Loui doesn't, "(I want to eat, but)" stomach growls "(I'll get sick if i eat it raw)"
The pack runs back to the river, a little ways away from the rapids. While everyone else is drinking, Loui is staring at the water. He's trying, but he's just not capable of keeping up or eating raw food. "(I wish mom would continue to feed me like before)" Father looks his way, but becomes distracted by rambunctious youths. Loui looks at the water as his face lights up! SPLASH! This draws everyone's attention and they watch as Loui is washed down stream! Father jumps in and bites down onto Loui's neck and pulls him to shore.
They gather around and stare at, Loui's fish. Loui, horsley whines. Mother looks like she wants it, and so does some of the others. Father gets between Loui and the others, barking!...Loui peals the scales from his fish, making *yeauk* faces, then eats what he can of it. When he's done they move on...once mother picked it clean...The trip back is slow, allowing Loui to keep up. When they get back mother goes to the pups, the sitter is fed, and.
"(What happened to him? Why does he have bite wounds?)" Loui has been bleeding for awhile now, the bite to his neck was rough, but it could of been worse, if his neck was as chubby and small as before, now it is a little longer and thinner as well as being covered in a wolf like main for the most part. He's a little light headed from the run and blood loss. He lays down and trys to rest, but he is disturbed from his rest by being rocked and wetted. Father is licking the wound. Paws Loui's back, then goes to his spot to sleep. "(Dad)" Loui is very happy. "(Ok, what did i miss on their hunting trip?)" Connor wonders.
The next day father wonders off on his own, Loui got up and went to follow but stopped. He wasn't sure what his father was doing, but he desided he'd leave him to it. Loui is holding his head higher, the base of his neck has changed. He resembles a furless wolf with the head of a human right now, his frame is almost fully changed over. Loui looks over to the others playing. "(I want to play too!)"
He runs over to join in on the rough housing. But after how tug of war went, and how the hunt went...and he wouldn't share his fish...they don't want him to join in and move away. "(They, don't want to play with me? Why am i being left out?)" Loui goes to mom. She is too busy sleeping. Loui seems to be on his own today...a whimper. He looks down, a pup, the little girl again, she's giving him attention. The two curl up together and lay there.
"(Poor boy, you are trying to be apart of the pack but no one wants to give you any attention, cept for that one. They need to except him, or he may try to leave again...just keep trying)" Connor is concerned, but there is nothing he can do to make the wolves except Loui.
With a nest of eggs in mouth, the red fox is gleefully happy as it trots down a game trail. Till something comes its way! No where to hide it drops down, curls its tail in, and the nest flips up onto its head...a wolf walks by...the red fox sits up, groaning and whining over the yoke being all over its head.
Night nears, and father finally returns, Loui goes to him, but stops and backs away, ears lean back some. Father's fur is messy and he looks to be in a bad mood. Loui lays low then rolls onto his side with his back legs splayed apart, front legs held tight to his body, throat exposed! "(He didn't learn that from watching another do it, not on my watch)" Connor watches with extreme worry. Father just walks by, no one gives him any attention, whatever happened they know not to get involved.
Loui lays on his stomach "(What happened to dad? I thought we were getting along?)" He gets up to go to him. Connor almost falls out of the tree "(Stop! You know enough to be submissive but you're going to throw yourself into his mouth afterwards?)" Loui goes to him with a bit of speed, father's fur stands up. Father whips around snarling viciously at Loui as he goes to bite the boy! Loui yipes and scampers backwards as he tips left!
Father snaps his jaws viciously an licks his lips inbetween. "Dad why?" Loui gets up and goes to him, but each time father just snaps at him! "(Stop kid, i need you to live!)" Loui trys, and trys...Father slows, and eventually stops as Loui does his best to hug him. Head wrapped round father's right, and his right hand/paw around father's left, he trys to scratch dad some, but his fingers don't really want to move separately, so the scratching is only of two fingers. Everyone is staring...Father's fur lowers some, and he seems calmer, exhausted, but calmer. Loui sits down and stares into his father's blood shot eyes.
Father turns away and goes to the den, the others give him space. "(He actually calmed him down? Whenever i saw him get like this i've never seen any of them manage that. I don't know what gets him like that, i don't have cameras everywhere)" Everyone goes into the den, father lays down by himself...bumped, he goes to attack-! Loui lays beside him. Father stares...lays down to sleep.
Next morning Loui is up first, he goes outside, then finds a space to lay down and look around. When facing Connor he could tell something was off, but once he looked away he really noticed it. Loui's face is more noticeably stretched out, yesterday it was more pushed out, but today it is noticeable. His nose looks deformed, his nostrils and at the column. They're slowly moving forward while the tip of the nose remains still each day.
His ears no longer have lobes, a tiny lump doesn't count as the base of his ears are obviously altering. What isn't noticeable is his head is a little flatter than before. However, what is also noticable, is his tongue is lengthening too, he's blepping. The tip of his tongue sticks out as he lays there half awake waiting for his family to get up. "(Less human everyday aren't you...but)" Connor is depressed "(I just don't know what triggered this...if you remain...i guess lucid enough and can still talk after this is over, i might have to either get my answer from you, or live vicariously through you. And, i really don't want to do that anymore learning this is possible)"
Father is next, he goes over to Loui and sits beside him, his fur is less stress looking. The two give each other a quick look. The family comes out and with the small meal yesterday they get ready to leaving. Loui leads so he isn't left behind, a pup sitter is chosen and they take off. "(Better luck this time wolf boy)" Connor watches them leave. They make the journey to river island and like before some go jumping across and disappear into the thicket. Loui wants to know what's over there but doesn't go.
Like the others he bends down to drink, this time his tongue curls enough to cup some water. Once the ones that went into the isle trees come back they move on. After awhile of running around they find a spot that obviously has seen grazers recently. They sniff about, including Loui..."(I think i got something)" He turns to the others, he opens his mouth and..."Bark bark!" Calls them to attention, they come over and he runs off before they give the area a second sniff. They run after!
Loui looks pleased as he leads everyone, believing "(I'm finally providing for my family!)" as they run through the forest...however, after a long trek, mother calls everyone to a stop! So does father. They sniff around and then call the pack to run back the way they came. Loui is confused, he can't smell it, or recognize it, but they have entered the territory of another pack. As they run the other pack howls which makes them run faster, Loui is getting his error as he panics!
They flee well out of the area only to turn and see the other pack following. Loui is the closest one to them as they close in! Loui's family turns back for a fight now that the other pack is in their territory! Loui runs and trys to hide but a big wolf comes after him! Loui yelps as in comes father, he rams the other and they start fighting! Trying to bite each other as the big one knocks father down and goes for his throat!
Loui rams the big wolf off father and without thinking bites down onto his front left paw! The big wolf yelps as he trys to pull away while kicking Loui! Father attacks! Using father, the big wolf smacks him into Loui and they both fall away as Loui loses teeth! The big wolf and his pack run for it as mother tears into one of their young. The other pack is gone and only one of theirs is dead. Many are wounded in Loui's family. Mother looks like she wants to tear Loui apart but father stands between them silently...they return to the one river.
There, they nurse their wounds while Loui looks at his reflection. He lost a few teeth in front. He licks them and notices how loose they're becoming. With his jaw stretches out, his human teeth are no longer sitting snugly. Father is beside him, protecting him from the wrath of ma. Some of the older youths made this error before, not that they can tell Loui that they never ran into the other pack when they did it. Regardless of this being a common error, mother isn't pleased.
They stay there over night tending to their wounds. Father stays by Loui and mother is by herself on the otherside of the wolf pile...Loui can't sleep though, he put everyone in danger, and now mother extremely hates him. Loui shivers from the cold air and from the mist coming from the water. Father moves over and lays on him some. Come morning Loui is a little ill from his lack of fur, but mother isn't caring and ushers the pack to move on.
Late into the day the pack finally catches wind of something. Loui has been trailing behind but father won't let him turn for home. The pack runs into the night and as the moon started going down is when in the distance a moose comes into view. It's big, but old and alone. Ornery to boot, it's legs are chewed up and one antler is half broken. He has been attacked before, recently, and isn't ready to be food just yet.
The pack moves in quietly while they can. Loui is silently made to stay put while father moves in. The pack moves to half circle the moose before it notices them, they silently ready their attack. "(It knows they're there)" Loui can feel it, the hair/fur of his mane tingles as he looks ready to panic. The big moose is oddly still, it is well aware of the pack...it lowers its head, raises its front legs and stamps down swinging its head up letting out a defiant call *Come Get Me!* and the pack trys to do just that!
The scarred moose rakes its good antler around kicking up dirt, rocks, sticks at half of the pack and aims to *back hand* the others when swinging back round! It makes maddening sounds as some of the pack barks to draw its attention away from the more capable! But the seasoned vet was not fooled and kicks away those attempting a sneak attack! He moves with great force passed the family as wolves scatter! The angry moose moves straight for Loui aiming to trample him!
Loui jumps aside and gets nailed in the right hip! Yelping as he is spun in the air hitting the ground a little hard! Father runs over to him as the family attempted to go after it and stops. Loui gets up and keeps his right back leg up an hobbles around. They are left behind as the pack chases the bull moose down, mother gave the order and they ran after it. Father stays by Loui as they move to follow the others. The sun rises as the two seem utterly alone...
The pack had gave up at one point, they rest while mother paces. There's blood on her muzzle, she bit it and seems content on waiting. Once they catch up Loui lays down, but mother is not going to wait any longer, she calls everyone to move and they head out. Loui gets up painfully and hobbles as fast as he can after them. The moose got far, but the new wound did finally slow it down.
Hearing them coming it turns to greet them. And the pack moves to surround it. The big old bull stares at mother, he huffs ready to fight! They charge and it backs up, some of them collide into each other while the rest stop and move in for its front! The moose rears up and slams down, moving left swinging the good antler, then moves forward swinging it back and forth, using the motion to imitate a pickaxe with the broken antler then the serrated axe side swings back!
The family does its best to go around to get on it, but when one does the moose smashes it off with a tree! They continue to try to get around it to get its back legs! But the cloven clubs that is its legs flail about! He will not be food yet! This bull is not yet ready for slumber! It *roars* as it puts its head down and charges through the pack!
The angry moose moves straight for Loui aiming to trample him! Father runs their way!
Loui moves away as the moose zigzags, kicking, trying to dislodge father from its back left leg! Father is taking a beating as the others try to catch up! Loui sits there with thoughts quickly going through his head "(What Should I Do? What Should I Do?)" A very pained yelp comes from father as he lets go and blood comes out of his mouth! The moose turns to stomp down on father!
Moose crys out and turns away as Loui jumped onto it and bit down on its neck! He pushed through the pain to do it! But no claws or fangs and with teeth being loose and coming out, he falls off an rolls a little! The moose begins to stomp down with murderous desire! The pack circles it an don't move as they watch the moose stomp down around Loui who is crunching up under the moose moving, trying to back away as it trys to crush his skull! Not willing to wait any longer the youths jump at it and push it away from Loui! Loui gets up and moves away as the others jump on an together they bite and claw at it as it carries them away.
Loui trys to keep up, but his front left leg and hand/paw landed badly and he's limping from two bad legs now. The pack dangling off the moose like braids as it runs around yelling its head off! It slows and goes down to its knees. The wolf pack pull in different directions. It lets out a load cry before mother goes for the jugular!...Loui catches up and watches to moose fall over as they begin eating while it's still...Loui looks around, someone is missing. He looks back the way they came, mother begins to make calls for her mate...nothing. She looks around and sees Loui heading towards something.
Loui stops, and mother is soon beside him. They look down at, father. He lays there in the grass, unmoving. She sniffs him, then walks off, slowly, head down. Loui begins to whimper and cry...kh-splat! Loui stares in surprise! Father coughs, spitting up blood, and begins to move. Loui barks then nuzzles father's muzzle. Mother runs back over, making all kinds of happy, whiny, sounds!
The pack sits around the kill as the wounded father eats, trys to eat. His breathing is hoarse and labored. He moves away, slowly, and sits by Loui ushering he to eat. Loui is still worried about raw food, but now with so few teeth remaining, he can't really eat anyways, showing his father how few remain. Father looks then whines. Mother comes over and seems both concerned and annoyed.
They rest only a little longer before tearing the moose apart and bringing some of it with them. They stop at the river by the island and the ones again go across, but this time Loui doesn't even consider going after them. Father catches up, having fallen behind Loui, he shakily lays down with mother beside him. Once everyone is nourished they move on, but with father AND mother trailing behind they go slowly. They gather around them...
The late hunting party returns to very unhappy pups and a exhausted pup sitter. But once they lay eyes on father they realize why it took so long. But Connor saw them coming, and he was shocked to see the father and Loui in the states they're in. "(What the hell happened to them?...That looks like a large, moose...they had one hell of a time bringing it down. But, will the pack's father survive his wounds?)" He goes into the den an lays in the nest.
Mother keeps the pups away from him. No one is in a playing mood, 'cept the youngest. The one pup that has been giving Loui extra attention goes to him, while another gave his left-front back-right a quick sniff, this one lost interest and walked off. She sits on Loui's right, and trys to talk with him. Loui responds without thinking as to what he's *saying*. "(Does he understand them now? If i can't trigger that change in myself i can use him to talk with them!)"
Loui is communicating with the pup, but Loui isn't quite clear as to what either of them are saying. He feels the noises he is making are the right ones, yet he doesn't know what they mean. She seems happy so he is fine with it...till "(Why can't i understand my family? Or myself? I definitely spoke earlier, but it wasn't the same as now?...why?)" He looks to his hurt paw. His fingers have almost been swallowed by the swelled area, it has reached just before his third knuckle with the webbing reaching just pass them. His thumbs have shrunk and turned to face the ground just like his fingers, and they're almost as small. Callouses are now skin tone paw pads.
His feet are completely changed. The callouses that developed are now paw pads and his toes have made the slow shift to their new position. His big toes haven't completely gone, a nub like a ankle bone sticks just barely out. His human feet, legs, hands and arms are now by all accounts finished changing. His hips make small unseen adjustments as well as his sinking shoulders. As he continued to grow, they crawled further round to his side. Same goes for the shape of his chest, ribs growing outwards.
His hair is a mix of long hair, and short fur. It has grown out to just between his eyes and down to his shoulder blades, the thicker areas is his mane, but beyond that is normal length fur. Barking, his ears rotate to the sound. Lobes are gone and they resemble the ears of a wolf. Loui takes stock of things, but he is thinking "(Why ain't i like my family? Why am i so different?)" He has at the moment forgotten what he was born as. The little girl pup lays on his front right leg and seems to fall asleep. The pup's fur is shedding away puppy browns for more grays and light brown with a touch of black here and there.
Loui disturbs her by getting up and moving to a spot away from everyone where he can watch them. She follows him and lays back down beside him. "(My family...when did it get so big?)" His memory tells him of times back with his birth parents and yet tells him of a happy life living here, even if it was a hard life he was happy. Unable to come to a conclusion he lays his head down to rest. His front left leg will recover faster than his right hip, kicked by the moose. But regardless of his confusion "(I hope dad gets better)"...
With the amount of food brought back the family won't go hunting for awhile. The next day Loui can use his front leg now, but his hip is still sore. He finds a place by the trees and bushes to rest and is joined once more by the one girl pup. Others who were injured are also taking it easy again today. Father remains unmoved, mother sits by the opening where he always sat, when she isn't by his side.
Next morning Loui gets up, gives his leg a few shakes, then moves towards the opening. Stops, something's there. He slowly moves forward and makes out its form, father left the den and layed down outside. Loui goes to him and quietly looks him over. He's breathing. Loui whimpers quietly and father looks to him and gives a groan after moving a bit and jerking from pain. Loui lays by him and the girl pup lays between them.
Loui's face is inching more out wards, his nose is more forward facing. His nostrils appear to be separating from his face. The feel of his nose is changing, he can feel it each time he licks it, his nose is altering in color too. His head is a little smaller, though with the growth of his muzzle, it's getting more noticeable.
Everyone is getting better, little by little. And the big ol' moose is helping them by not needing to hunt. When Loui and the other youths feel better the youths begin to play around again. The pups too play around. Loui maybe more the youth's size, he is more a little kid on the inside. So when the bigger pup calls him over to play he does so! "(They want me to play with them!)" They rough house! Pawing one another, rolling around, mouthing each other. But it is when Loui rolls with his friend, she crys out in pain!
Before Loui has a chance to apologize he is blitz by mother! Mother ran over and stood over her hurt pup and viciously snapped and snarled into Loui's face! During this, he layed down on his belly and tilted away, ears curl fully down and back, he squinted and looked to her and away repeatedly as she berated him. Once she was done she goes to her mate, looks at him, then looks back at Loui with hatred. She blames Loui for his injuries and she would kick him out if not for her mate protecting him.
The pups wonder off as Loui stays in that posture for a few moments before tipping onto his side "(This isn't my family)". The red fox moves alone through the woods as the day goes on. When night falls he doesn't join them in the den. He gets up and leaves. The little girl sees him leave. Loui walks slowly away from the den, tears fall. He gets pretty far before Connor runs into him, returning from a break. "Loui what's wrong? (This can't be good. Did that chewing out make him recall the truth?)"
Loui is hesitant and looks to, want to run away. "Loui it's me, you recognize me don't you? Hrolf? Connor Hrolf?" In Loui's eyes is confusion, but not on who this being is. Loui speaks, but his words are not just choked with tears, but full of *woohl*, *arrl*, *hRRn*, full of *ooo* *rr*, and high pitched whines. "I do not belong here, i just can't fit in. I remember, living with things like you." "(Things?)" "But i'm not with them anymore, was i given up? Abandoned by them? I had great memories of a loving family, but i'm no longer sure where i was when it happened, who they were."
"(His memory is really a mess now, poor thing)" "I want to go to wherever that family i had is, my mother and father are waiting for me, i just know it!" "(His eyes...what, should i do?)" "I just want to fit in." Loui whimpers. "(I...lost what i want...i need to help him, somehow)...huah?" They look back, the little girl pup is there. Unlike the older wolves, the pups have never ran into the watching creature up on two legs. She slowly goes to Loui and hides on his right, half under him. "Hm. (You are where you belong, Loui)" Loui gives her a few caring licks before turning back to Connor. Connor suddenly notices something. The *puppy* blue eyes of the little girl, of Loui, are turning the brilliant gold of a adult wolf.
Connor grins caringly "(I was selfish, i was using you for my own ends. I'm sorry for this Loui. But, now this is your home) You don't have to go anywhere." Connor goes down to his hands and knees to be more eye level with both of them. "You are home Loui. Tough times, it happens, but once you recover from the illness that had you be born the way you are, you will be just like the rest of your family. And those happy memories will be accurate once more. I promise." Loui looks a little better "I, don't get it. What do you mean?" "You don't need to worry about it. Just hang in there. This one needs you...your family needs you." Loui looks to her, she whimpers a little. He then looks to the ground, his paws. "I'm, going to be fine?" "Yeah, it's proof you will be. You are growing up into a fine wolf." Loui cheers up and something seems to wiggle in his boxers. "(Growing that tail you've been wanting to wag)" Loui sits down and lifts his right paw up. Connor is confused...then realizes. He puts his right hand out under Loui's paw, shake.
Loui nuzzles her and they return to the den. "(I can't tell him the truth. He has no one to return to, and i'm sure no one would want to take him in looking like that. And he's no longer talking too well. His best bet is to just stay here, and let whatever is happening to him finish. Loui)...i'm sorry." Loui is greeted by father who is the only one awake. The three go to sleep. Connor turns around and there the red fox stands. It gives up a mouse, and leaves. "?...nature...sure is something else..." he smiles.
Connor is missing the next day, the family is getting back to old routines after the painful hunt. Loui went to lay down and paw his muzzle when he noticed father leaving again, slowly this time. Only mother reacts, she whimpers as he leaves. Loui gets up, and decides to follow this time. Father goes far from the den in a direction that Loui hasn't gone in yet.
Their journey is a long one. Father never once looks back as they make this trip. Loui begins to feel it, they are not safe here, there is someone here that means them harm. Father stops and sways his tail, telling Loui to stop. Loui only does for a short bit, once father is far enough ahead he follows. A scarred up white wolf waits for him. He is much bigger than father too. It isn't a very pleasant fellow, it started out with a vicious demeanor and hasn't stopped. The two posture, exchange growls and snarls...then fight!
Colliding and snapping at each other! Beating each other with paw clubs across each other's faces. As Loui watches this, it seems to be in slow motion. And what he sees is his father, still hurt, is losing. Each lounge bite is slower, each clubbing is weaker, father is slowing and jerking in pain! A loud *arrl* flys from father as blood comes out of his mouth! He hits the ground and whitey stands over him, both are bloody but whitey is still standing.
Father won each time this rogue came by, but today he lost, and the rogue isn't about to show mercy! ARRRL! Loui bit down on whitey's left ankle! Loui pulls him back and away "(Stay Away From My Father!)" Loui is growling as he pulls whitey away! Whitey kicks free and goes after Loui! Loui dodges the bite [the two stare into each other's forceful eyes] but whitey decides to bash Loui with his head, closing his eyes and clubbing Loui! Off balance, whitey goes to clamp down on Loui's neck!
Loui continues to spin from the hit having whitey go by him, clamping down by his left eye! Loui spins away, mule kicking whitey in the gut! Whitey yelps as Loui turns back to headbut him in the gut too! Whitey goes down and as he rolls over, kicks Loui away, and gets up! Whitey gets into a fighting stance and readys to attack him! Loui isn't thinking on any action, just "(I will protect my father!)" Loui lounges! Whitey goes to bite Loui but misses for Loui quickly stopped and turned instead of going in, a feint attack! Loui lowers down as he slides in side first, whitey reels back and puts his chest out, head up. Loui lowers then springs up into him, hitting him with his hip!
Whitey crys out as Loui brings up his back left paw further, toes splay apart as small claws become visible! Loui slams his paw onto whitey- claws push out more, and drags it across his right shoulder scratching it! Loui lands and whitey backs away, the move was unexpected but whitey is far from ready to run! Loui's father is wounded, the young Loui doesn't have the strength to win, he will not pass on this opportunity! Whitey charges, zigs left then zags right- lowers down and RISES UP slaming Loui in the lower jaw causing him to slam his jaws together due to missing his teeth! Loui goes up into the air and whitey shoves Loui and he topples over.
Whitey bites down onto Loui's throat! Loui crys out a gagged yelp! Whitey goes to kill Loui but lets go and hurrys away! Loui's toes are all bloody, baby claws, they are fresh to the world and are sharp! Whitey's belly and sides are bloody! Whitey's eyes are of a crazed animal! He's tasted Loui's blood, too him, that taste was not just wolf, but human! He charges Loui again before he can get up knocking him back down & clamping down on his back left paw, at the ankle. Loui is on his right, and can't get a good kick on whitey! Whitey is being smart, he's keeping low and dragging Loui, crushing his ankle! "ARRRLRLRL!" Loui crys out constantly from the pain!
Loui takes a beep breath and pulls himself into whitey, curls up and swats him across the nose! He lets go and Loui pushes off the ground and opens wide! Needle teeth! Clamps down on whitey's jugular! Loui wraps his front legs around whitey and digs in! Whitey lifts his right leg allowing Loui to slide under him to put his back right paw to his gut! Whitey puts a paw down on Loui's chest and presses with his claws hard!
Whitey jerks backwards! His claws streak down Loui's chest! Whitey looks back and Loui looks too. Father bit whitey's tail, he now moves to bite onto whitey's neck! Whitey can't move because of Loui! Father clamps down! But his weight on top of whitey is making him press harder onto Loui's chest! Whitey struggles, he trys to get free but they have him.
Unlike times before Loui's father would let whitey live, he will not do that this time. Whitey starts to have a hard time breathing as Loui crushes his wind pipe! Whitey let's up, he no longer presses down on Loui and moves his paw and stands there gasping. Whitey lowers down on Loui, paws slip, eyes glaze over, tongue hangs and drool flows. Father lets go and moves away. Loui tips over and lets go, pushing him away. He then gets up on his stomach at an angle before sliding away and getting up.
They stare at whitey...he's dead. Loui lowers his head and ears, he turns to look at father, letting out a high pitched whine in apology. Father stands tall and puffs up- *arll!* He shrinks up some, he straightens up enough and looks to Loui. His tail wags slowly, he nuzzles Loui's head up then returns to his lowered in pain sit. Loui lights up and breaths a little heavily! He just, he saved his dad, and...Loui grins holding his head up, chest out, shoulders back...
Slowly the wounded father and son make their way back to their den. Along the way, they both mark the area as belonging to their pack. At one point Loui looks to the odd thing he would wear and move so he could relieve himself, and decides to leave it behind. He has a short tail, for how slow his changes have been happening it is likely something that only started growing outside his body recently, a few odd days or so.
They finally make it back to a happy family who are concerned about all of their wounds. They lick their wounds, mother stands between them licking one then the other.
Three days go by as the two rest and recover from their wounds. Mother and the others take off to hunt and the pups terrorize the two of them during it. Loui's claws are slowly growing out, though they first came out crooked, they straightened out as they went. His fangs are coming in nicely, he naws on bones for the marrow and for the teething pains. For the same reason he digs around and pulls at a tree trunk.
At this point Loui is fully wolf cept for his short tail, only a little bit of fur and his head, his nose is a bit bulbous as it sits just ahead of his jaws. From licking his nose for the change in texture tingled, his nose is reddening, darkening. His head is noticeably flattening out, his ears even seem to of moved up a bit. The young girl pup that loves hanging out with him is getting bigger too, becoming a fine wolf. The two of them have been hanging out more and more.
The family returns, one is carrying a fish, mother brought Loui a fish to eat. His tail wags free and happy! He plucks the fish as the little girl watches. When Loui paws at his mouth to get scales unstuck she steps in and mimics him. His tail wags. He eats some then lets her have some. They then run around and rough house, their tails wag as they make rather happy and playful sounds as they roll around and paw & mouth each other.
The youths rough house when one is bopped by a big stick, Loui wants to play tug of war with them today! They look eager to start! One bites hold and after a few moments the first tug! From Loui! This surprised his opponent! The two both tug and a few tugs later Loui loses. But he isn't done yet, he wants to go again! So bites down again. Pause...Then tug of war! Loui holds his own, the stick slips but he keeps hold of it!
The others watch with wagging tails and happy faces! Loui and his opponent tug and turn as they fight over the stick! The whole family watches as the two won't give up the fight! After a few more tugs, they stop...Loui's opponent gives up and lays down. Giving the fight to Loui. Loui's tail wags away happily, holding his head high, very pleased with himself. Father howls, quickly joined by her, then mother and the rest join in, Loui joins in as well!
The packs howling can be heard for quite a distance and is heard by the red fox up a tree, and one who is questioning his actions...
The whole pack is running through the forest together, the pups are just big enough to help out, at least they can act as blocks or distractions. They arrive at the river island and this time Loui jumps over and swims to it. Following the others he finds the secret the older wolves knew. A small rocky pyramid sits leaning over a natural springs, water flows from the rocks down to it. The springs comes from the rocks and seems to flow to it and back underground. The trees here are more lush than off the Island.
The water here is pure and delicious, it is nice and cool. The youths are both drinking it and playing in it. Loui joins in and they play for a short bit! It's peaceful and serene here. But, at one point Loui stumbles upon a sad, yet nice discovery. Two skeletons are there. They seem to be intertwined together and had been there for who knows how long. He looks at the skeletons and notices something odd about them.
But before he can examine them more closely the others begin to move on. He runs after them, leaving the wolf and, other, skeleton, behind. The pack returns to the rest of them. Loui paws little Mia and thinks "(Wait till you see what's over there when you make that crossing!)". She paws him and they playfully bat each other till mom and dad call for them to catch up.
They run on, they come to a stop and sniff about. Loui's nose wiggles as he sniffs about, and his ears rotate to listen to the others and to the world. After some searching Loui calls Mia over to sniff what he's found before alerting the others. They agree he's onto something and take off for it, they run together for awhile and come across a herd of white-tailed deer. They spread out and scatter the herd, Mia sticks with Loui as he goes for a young doe. Loui pulls up side her and bites her leg, letting go, and biting again. She trys to kick him but he swerves away and goes back in to bite more!
Once she is slow enough he changes sides and bites hold of her other leg and Mia bites down onto the wounded leg an they bring her to a stop! Two others join in and help bring her down and finish her. They tug their kill over to two other kills the family made. Before any can react Loui is already plucking away fur. Mia joins him followed by everyone else. Once enough fur is gone Loui begins eating.
Loui helps tear away some left overs and everyone heads back. If it wasn't for Loui's lack of a full fur coat and his head, you would not be able to tell this, wolf, was once a human child. A child who was a son to a family that donated much to the protection of wild life. Who's small child now lives with, free, and happy. Loui took his last step down the *Path of the Wolf*...
A short time later Loui comes out of the den. His muzzle is full, nose has bulb up and become fully capable of shifting around to help pinpoint scents. His mane has spread further, going between his eyes, up his ears some, futher down his back and now starts down his shoulders. Also, the newest fur is white, with his hair and fur growing out white too. Snow begins to fall as he looks up...he shivers and goes back into the den. The family piles on him after he stopped to stare, at nothing. The camera in the den is gone, not that Loui can fully remember what was there.
Snow flakes fall, fluttering here and there as they collect on the vibrant colors of the tree leaves, not all leaves make the journey to the ground, so they collect white above and produce color below for a limited time. With the Canadian forest now blanketed in white, it is clearly winter now.
A mound of snow lifts and a white wolf comes up out of it. He shakes the snow off and stands tall, yawns big fangs and longue shown. Then looks around. The traces of brown fur down his mane tells as to whom it is. Up from the snow comes another mainly white wolf, Mia, she is almost as big as him now.
He is fully furred and both of their eyes are golden, though he has specks of blue left in his eyes. His nose is darker but not as dark as a wolf's nose, nor his lips though they are like his nose down the front from licking his nose and sticking his tongue out repeatedly.
This year's young and Loui play about in the snow when something catches their attention. But after sniffing the air they egnor it, all but one does. Loui goes over to the source of the noise, and eventually finds "(Hey, it's that creature that loved to watch us!)" Loui goes over to Hrolf and "Hahrolll yonnor!" Tail wagging away happily! The wolf watcher is wide eyed, realizing who the wolf was before he spoke, but is surprised to still hear him speak at all.
He lowers down to all fours to be more eye level with Loui, "Hey, Loui." swishing in the snow behind Hrolf is a tail. His features are a bit a skew and his hair has spread out, however the tail is more than enough to tell on lookers he's done it, figured out what triggered Loui's change. "It would seem i will still be left behind." "Hrrrh?"...Winter goes by and come spring. With this passing of time, Loui has grown into a full grown adult wolf, and so has Mia.
Loui and Mia are happy parents and Hrolf has become a slanky wolf with handish front paws that would be mistaken as a werewolf. The pack has excepted Hrolf and mother didn't stop the two from being together.
The red fox trots down a forest trail, moving far from the river island spring it was just at. It's going home. Into its den the red fox goes, and inside is clothing that is much older than Loui's would be. The vixen lays down around her young, her third litter...
