Have you been reading the pages occasionally and not in order? If so, I'd too be confused as to how certain scenes came to be.
The comic has been focused on these two for the past 10 pages or so, basically a few months at this point.
Are you speaking about Sesame's dreams? Those are meant to be vague and a bit confusing, with only a few context clues as there is a mystery element being built up. The comic hasn't jumped significantly in time except over night or so. We've never had a week or month long jump in time in the comic thus far.
As for Valmont and Drayven, Drayven is a powerful political figure as heir to the throne of the most powerful Kingdom in Evyr. But his father openly berates him and he holds little power in his gilded cage, ontop of that he has an incurable disease called 'Withering'. Valmont is a necromancer with dreams of world-domination, seeking ubers for their wish-granting powers (allegedly). Valmont needs an army and political ally.. or pawn, since there is a no go with the sickly King, he goes with the Prince heir. Valmont can temporarily heal Drayven's illness with a blood magic ritual, but in order to heal him for longer they'd need to do something more in depth. They'd need a stronger bond to do a blood-pact, which would tie them together. Drayven is buttering up Valmont to like him and possibly get that blood-pact going so he doesn't die before he inherits the throne.
Sesame is trying to figure out who and why her village was destroyed, has weird inexplicable dreams. She recently was saved and promised by her powerful warrior sister Soya, to get to the bottom of things. Right now The Severance - the rebellion group against Alder may be key. Mason and Kylar were captured by The Severance.
Does that better explain things?
