Fisher cats are not cats! In fact, as members of the weasel family (Mustelidae), they're more closely related to canines than felines. Fishers are in the same subfamily as martens, wolverines, and tayras. My favorite name for this critter is the Algonquin one, "pekan". But if you introduce yourself as a pekan, folks think you're mispronouncing the nut. I don't know of anybody with a nut sona. No, Brutus Buckeye does not count.
