Here is Kuromi and My Melody, but I drew it over the bleed through of the marker drawing.
Also, here are the two pens used in this drawing. The Jinhao 82 and the pen it is imitating, the Sailor Pro Gear Slim.
At roughly a 10x price difference (almost 20x if you get the Sailor through authorized US sellers!), I am sorry to inform y'all that yes, the more expensive pen is the better one. However, the Jinhao isn't bad. I actually like the way it feels and writes. Rather, I like the way THIS Jinhao feels and writes.
The problem with some of these cheap Chinese pens is the issue of quality control and standardization. I have another Jinhao 82 that is a proper piece of junk! Comes apart and barely writes!
The Sailor, on the other hand, feels great, is sturdy, and I love its 14k nib (that's a preference thing. I know some people aren't a huge fan because the nib is on the stiffer side, but I like stiff nibs).
So the question is, which would I recommend. Well! If you've used fountain pens before, both! And if you haven't, neither! I wouldn't want someone to be spooked off by a pen not working, but I also wouldn't someone's first pen to be a gold nib pen.
Thank you for coming to my midnight PENtalk. I just really like them.
