In the midst of more commissions, the Sonic OC brainrot has been strong... so, why not add a few new villains into Frost's world, I figure?
Belladonna here actually came from some conversations with a friend of mine, and the talks he'd had about some heroes from Rail Canyon. I do always love the southern belle sort of aesthetic, so I figured I'd build on his lore with a new nemesis to run counter to them...
Age: 34
Strong Point: Good at negotiating business deals, and always finds a way to persevere through problems.
Weak Point: Can’t grasp the true meaning of friendship, to her, others are either an asset or a hindrance to her goals. Nothing more!
Likes: Tea, flower gardens, elegantly-designed machinery
Dislikes: Getting her hands dirty
Belladonna is a desert cottontail rabbit from the Rail Canyon area of Sonic's world, an heiress to the Shining Steam Locomotives train-manufacturing company. Doesn't care much for other Mobians, despite being the leader of a business conglomerate, but there was one person she enjoyed the company of: a younger heiress named Chanel the Skunk. The girl was orphaned at a young age and left to try managing her parents' corporation on her own, but Belladonna (being a longtime business partner to Chanel's company) helped mentor the kid, teaching her how to use that "southern charm" to close a deal, making successful ventures, and so on, leading the two to grow close.
However, Eggman's takeover in Forces led Rail Canyon to be overrun by Egg 'bots, and the trains repurposed by force- leaving both heiresses with almost nothing. The pair had to leave everything and fend for themselves, something they quickly realized they didn't know how to do very well... but where Chanel fell back on her friend (and butler) Valet, Belladonna relied on herself to learn the skills of engineering that she lacked, and put her fortunes back together. In the lowest point of her life, Belladonna made herself a promise, that she'd live through the poverty and "never be penniless again".
She made good on that promise, but only by running a racketeering operation behind closed doors, where her trains would be periodically hijacked by a group of bandits she hired to steal from wealthy patrons, and allowed to escape through secret trap doors. The deception didn't last though, especially with the "Returners" team of heroes investigating these bandits- Chanel, none the wiser to what her "Auntie Bella" was really up to, couldn't believe the woman who'd been so close to her would be so selfish. In Bella's eyes, though, trying to help others for free only gets you behind- Chanel's altruism, to Ms. Belladonna, is a sign of her naivete... even if a part of her will always feel sad that she cut ties with her former protege.
She might have been forced to cut and run, but Belladonna's a survivor. She'll always find a new venture to build her fortunes, fending for herself and using whoever she has to in order to take care of number one... you could say that she's a symbol of the bad side of business. She might play the facade of a simple debutante, but there's a poison within that flower for anyone who crosses her.
(The parasol-shotgun "Oakley" is another part of that deceit! I love parasols, and I wanted to give Belladonna a weapon that shows her craftiness and deadly competence veiled beneath a ladylike exterior. She built the device herself, and it's her primary tool for fighting- even if she prefers to let others do the fighting for her, most of the time.)
I feel like I'm slowly approaching a more standardized format for these OC sheets too; the faces end up a little cramped at the bottom, but everything more or less fits in a nice 16:9 ratio. Let me know what y'all think, I really enjoyed drawing this dress and the mechanics of her weapon! Bella's definitely going to be showing up in the future, you can count on that~

Dixie the Gazelle? Yeah, I won't lie, that gal was probably the other 50% of the motivation to draw Bella... I absolutely adore Dixie's style, and I kinda wanted to design my own character reminiscent of her. Sadly, without those gorgeous bumper bangs of Dixie's, didn't want to be TOO on the nose about it.
I'd very much enjoy drawing Dixie for a commission or trade of some kind though, she IS quite a lovely lady~
