Aurora gryphem, aka dawn griffin
One of the last remaining members of its species. Before the monkeys took sticks in their hands and began to walk on two limbs, they dominated the planet. But as soon as people multiply and grow smart enough to figure out how to sharpen and throw a stick to kill a griffin, a large-scale cleansing of the territory from these beautiful creatures that previously dominated it began. The defeated griffin became a symbol of man's dominance over nature, and its severed head began to show off on the banners and emblems of developing countries. A few hundred years later, when the griffin turned from a formidable predator into a legend, only a couple of dozen individuals remained from the entire species. They are kept for military parades and other ceremonial occasions, selected according to strict criteria from a brood of the most beautiful and thoroughbred, and burn out their eyes, since, according to legend, the look of a griffin can drive a hundred people crazy. The rest are killed for meat. The griffin lives all its life in a cramped barn, which, of course, it does not know about, all four of its wings atrophy to such an extent that he cannot even get off the ground. It does not see anything around and only knows that when its feathers begin to be cleaned, this means that the next day they will put a saddle and harness on it and will drive it all day under the scorching sun to the amusement of the public and the king's pride.
And yet the most terrible thing in this bestial life of this wonderful creature remains that the griffin has consciousness and perfectly understands what, how and why they do it.
One intelligent species is turned into a toy for another. And nothing can be done about it
