So another miniature from February '79. This one is 1 1/8 inch x 6 inches. i used to do these tiny pictures on scraps of paper cut off from larger drawings, even envelopes got drawn on.
This is an homage to Gil Kane's time on "John Carter Warlord Of Mars". Also prolly a scene from "A Princess Of Mars".
i fixed a few oopsies and put the tones on last week ... and of course i had to fix some other stuff just now. cuz i'm my own art-director-from-hell.
And, yes, i was/am an ERB fan, even lived in Tarzana for a few years.
John and Deja belong to ERB's estate or something.

This particular picture required a good deal of revision - if you saw the original you'd need medical help to stop laughing. It was just an inch high, not sure if i penciled it - the guy's head was way too big, the woman's arms way too thin and her rib cage oddly flattened at the back, i even de-wonkified the triangle-dot pattern on the background wall (being careful to just do minimal changes so that it still looks like a rough sketch). Playing cranky old art-director with my teenage pictures !
