I firmly believe that if Hermann Goering had parachuted into downtown Edinburgh, one of the Kilt Makers on Princess Street would have found his Scottish ancestry in their "Doomsday Books" and sold him a full kit in his family tartan.

Yes. This old joke about Edinburgh Tartan sellers was one idea I borrowed. I have a comedic booklet I bought in Inverness on my first trip to Scotland. It is peppered with single panel newspaper comic strips from the early 1900's. One of them shows a Tartan seller talking to a customer, the seller is leaning down to grab a book from under the desk. Hidden under the desk is another man writing the customer's name into the book.
The closing phrase "Ye All Scottish" is from the greeting the host gives at the opening ceremony at one of the Florida Scottish Games. A way of saying, at the Games today, y'all are Scottish, enjoy.

makes me glad i have actual scottish ancestors with legit registered tartan patterns. though the only ones i can find regularly are due to my family's distant connection to the ruling line of the Stuarts, so i'd end up looking like a tourist anyway..

No question about my own scottish roots...
