He was part of the advertising campaign for the pop music compilation Monster Hits, an ill-fated late 1980s attempt to rival Now That's What I Call Music.

I vividly remember the TV ad for that as well. Christ, I'm old.

There was a It Payless Shoes store in Saginaw, Michigan. It was replaced by an Aspen Dental clinic.

Here in America, we have a footwear retailer known as Payless (short for Payless Shoe Source), although where I live, it disappeared.

According to Wikipedia, it was a fairly small chain which didn't last long before it was merged with WH Smith Do It All to become simply Do It All. There was one of those not far from where I grew up, but it later became a B&Q.

Was discussing this with someone too, but read the deal was done in 1988 and stores changed to Do it Alls. I'd only have been less than 3 years old and not remember it even if we had one. Nice fox though. Wonder if he had any instore/promotional presence?
