This pic was taken in a petco (found a dead rat in the cages off screen to the right had a good talk with the people there).
This pitty was a little to "friendly" so they were teaching her how to restrain him wihout hurting him or having to get him fixed.
THIS is what a pit bull should look like. My neighbors should take a hint....

The pit bull they own is agressive and is way to thin for his size. He's not thin enough to report but it's just odd too look at him so thin for his breed.
He's never broken out but he has ripped his chain out of the ground and has attempted to hurt alot of my friends. He can only be walked at night because he will try to hurt people that walk buy.
I have personally had to put my fist in his mouth to stop him from mauling a frind of mine. For some odd reason the neighbors pit bull only like me, my father and his owner. We may never know why.

I know a thing or two about pit bulls as well and this pitty is just too thin. I had other neighbors with a very thin female that looked healthy while being thin. I should be able to see his ribs slightly because he's a flat colored coat but I feel shouldnt be able to see his spine. He has almost no fat on him.
He's never been abused but I agree with neglect. Theres outside dogs then theres not socializing your pups. Up side he's an amazing guard dog.
I've been looking into getting a dog and something about pit bulls just has my attention. People make these dogs evil, they arent born that way. With people breading them for fights there are many that are turned in for being too friendly.
I just home that my neighbors take care of the dog now that the son moved away with him.

:C Hopefully someone does. A guard dog was probably all he was meant to be.
I'd highly recommend a pit bull. <3 I started a gradual falling in love with them, too. They are very deep emotionally, and tend to become inseparably attached to their owners when allowed to be part of the family. They just need a firm hand with all the energy they have. I could never be without one now, they are just so charismatic, loyal and affectionate.

He was supposed to be an inside dog, they just never socialized him because his sisters husband got deported and she had to move back home with 3 kids that get on my nerves.
Thanks to her he wasnt an inside dog anymore and he was replaced with her kids...
I was looking at the shiba inu too because they're talkative. I would never buy a pitty from a breeder though. The poor things rarely get adopted because of parents believing they're bad. I'm just looking for the "Regects". An "un loved" breed and the pit bull is just that, a good dog with a bad name.
I rarely meet dogs that aren't loyal and effectionate.

That's terrible. x.x I hate that parents try to separate kids from animals thinking that the animals would be too dirty/germy, or whatever other stupid reasons they come up with. They have kids and then get rid of the dog, not realizing how much kids and dogs need each other. Now he's actually become dangerous...
My pits are very vocal too. XD
The thing about some dogs is certain breeds aren't really very smart. There's a technical IQ, and an emotional IQ. What I've personally found is dogs like labradors, retrievers, collies, huskies, and similar dogs are highly trainable but not necessarily intelligent in terms of understanding what's going on. A lab is loyal because a lab does what he's told. They're affectionate because they don't have the depth to feel/express anything else. Learning to do lots of tricks doesn't mean it's thinking, only that it's accepting instructions without any willpower (you can replace "lab" with a lot of other dogs, too). Some dogs can be affectionate for food, or just as a show of submission and nothing else. A LOT of attention, interaction and love can raise any kind of dog into a very rich and intelligent creature, so I don't mean to stereotype too harshly, but I think there are just some breeds that have more of that spark in them than others from the start. It seems to me like it's mostly dogs that aren't bred for beauty, and have large skulls and/or short fur. Pit bulls, mastiffs, beagles, boxers, ect. There's a benign, automatic loyal and affectionate, and then there's the kind with a full emotional awareness that you could swear comes from another person. You get what you put in, though. I think the more trust there is between a person and dog the more willful the dog is to communicate back and express itself.

Lbs aim to please that's why they're smart. I know most dogs are loyal bit just food baced because alot of the neigbor hood dogs yoused to wait for me after school otside my house >...< I dont feed them I just payed the most attention to them and treated them like pets not underlings. Most of the dogs in my neighborhood still come to my house when they get lost >...<
Sadly to say but I dont find pit bulls any more special than a german shepherd with a different guarding persective (sheperds will pick the family as a unit, the pit will chose a single person).
Doin tricks is a sign of memory not IQ.
I like to get dogs that learn quickly and pittys are alittle stubborn, hehe. They dont aim to please like your average lab or Bishon Firise (I know I spelled that wrong, lol) Bishons are the smartest little dogs I've run into they watch learn and REMEMBER witout regular training. It's almost weird how smart those are.... They're just too small for me.
And for some weird reason... I dont like the pit bulls bark. Great dog, small sound...
All the huskies I run into are alittle special along with labs. Collies are briliant. I judge a dog by it's ability to learn and retain info and/or problem solving. Alot of the smarter dogs I run into are axually mixed breeds. Usually a collie mix. My fried has a pit collie mix that learned to sit on me to wake me up.
Sadly with the way you explain intellect the pit is in there too with the lab huskies and retrievers.
Emotional awearness... I get that most from G-sheps, house cats, hungarian vishla, whippet, greyhound, min pin, Great danes, italian grayhound, female pits (males seem to just want snuggles >...< I can never find a male that is emotionally motivated... Sounds like most males, lol.), Alstralian sheperhed and other hearding and hunting dogs. New findlands! Those too. I dont judge dogs a breed in most cases. It's about personalitly in the indevidual.
I dont usually get good emotional resposes from working dogs like huskies, retrievers (the generality), toy breeds and teacup. breeds.
Warning, if there are grammer errors and spelling mistakes It's because I cant hear myself think with my sister playing guitar >...<

I may have worded some things differently but I think we're saying almost the same thing. Although, I still don't think learning tricks is indicative of intelligence necessarily only because it's easy to take an order and remember it with enough repetition and bribery. XP Even with people, I don't place a lot of weight on high grades in school or trivia type knowledge, moreso on inner depth. The rest is too easy, anyone can remember something with enough patience and persistence. But you can't train someone to be sensitive, thoughtful, curious, ect.
A lot of small dogs too, I agree, and the giant breeds like newfies, great danes and mastiffs. I try not to judge too harshly on breed but for the most part there are some general similarities among them. I've met a few emotionally intelligent labs, but they were really old.
I'm not saying that pit bulls are 'special' over other dogs, but are at least one of many breeds that are what I think is an ideal dog. But like owner, like dog. People choose what suits their own personalities. I prefer expressive, deeply emotional beings like myself. XD

If I wanted a dog alot like me I'd get a gray hound. "RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN ZOMG WE'RE MOVING" when outside and just "ZZzzzzz" when inside. Lol.
Learning tick is an okay way to judge intellect but I still consider problem solving a better way.
Emotionally speaking... I dont think that's intelect at all. Just because a dude doesnt give a half crap about why I like the color green and cake is awsome (even if it may be a lie) doesnt make him dumber than my sister who cares about my wild aventures in cake.
You cant train someone who doesnt care. Like Beagles... Not food motivated... at all... Or my sisters BF's puppy. The puppy just... well... Doesnt care... And he's a pit bull. Just sits there, being puppy shaped and smelling good not giving a crap.
Omg I want to hug that puppy RIGH NOW!!! I HAVE to talk him out of breeding the puppy... We dont need anymore homeless Pit bulls. It's not like a lab that every one wants, it's a "monster" that crys when mice run by *facepalm*
