Happy Halloween!ππ§‘
Knowing me, you can guess that "Akira" (1988) is one of my favorite thing and that it greatly influenced me.
I take the plot about uncontrolled power very close to my heart (this is consonant with my Tiamat and Charge WW stories) and in Akira one of the best body-horror for my taste.
I want to redraw a few screens for myself, and here's one of them! β€
By the way, I would love to take such experimental commissions with redraw-screens (anime, cartoons, maybe films\tv) with your characters *wink*

Brutally epic!!!!
And wonderful choice of anime! Akira had a huge impact on me too when i first saw it on the TV in the middle of the night at a very young age in the mid nineties. I`ve never seen anything like that before in my life at the time! Especially the cyberpunk setting, the bodyhorror and the animation quality blew me away! I am super curious what else scenes you picked for drawing! :D
Another anime from that time was Bubblegum Crisis, also very cyberpunk. I still love it. xD I re-watch both, Akira and Bubblegum Crisis once in a year. c:

Oh God!!
I looked at Akira at a fairly mature age (student years). It is a pity that not before otherwise the effect would be even brighter
Fortunately, without spoilers, so in some places my jaw just dropped.
I probably won't be particularly original in redraws - everything about Tetsuo and his metamorphosis. I really like the panoramic shots of the city and laboratories, but they are very difficult to redraw. But I'm still thinking.
I still madly love the scene where children appear in the form of huge aggressive toys to a very disturbing melody, I revise this moment probably no less than the scene with the mutation xD
In the manga, by the way, there was no this scene at all.
The plot of the manga is generally much longer and differs in chronology, more characters. There is a lot of living Akira, to whom Tetsuo "serves" for a while! But I like the manga and the film, although they are very different ++
I never heard of Bubblegum Crisis at all
Googled the footage, looks amazing, I hope I'll cut out the time to watch, thanks for info!!

I have never read the manga so these infos are very interesting! :o Thank you for sharing!
I also love the scene with the plushies! But everything with plushies is a little soft spot for me in general. No matter if cute or horror. ^^Β°
Glad i could bring your interest on Bubblegum Crisis. c: There are super epic panorama city shots as you mentioned before too in it.
I guess we both like 80ies and 90ies anime/manga a lot. XD

What a cool first titles!!
It seems to me familiar to Outlaw Star but as if I forgot everything, need to revise.
My first anime were.. Flying Phantom Ship (was I 5-6 years old? and it was tough, I am afraid to revise it until now) PokΓ©mon series and old SailorMoon tv Ρ \\D
