Just a could of ideas, that I'm adding to a story, I did in the eighth grade.
Before you ask this picture doesn't belong to me, it was made by Kwen Chan over on DA.
A/N: I wanted to include this little nugget in the summary, but there wasn't much room for it, so I'm putting it in the author's notes: Not only do I want this story to involve Nute Gunray's resurrection, I know people would love to see him back in the franchise, due to the Trade Federation being no more, playing a whole new different role, to redeem himself from his misdeeds in the past. I want to include his bond with Rune Haako as brothers.
Scene 1: Gunray removes the oxygen mask that Moonfox puts on him, to help him breathe.
Gunray removed the oxygen mask, that Moonfox placed on him, to help him breathe. When she was about to placed it on him again, only for him to smack her hand.
"What happened?"
"You were brutally attack by Darth Vader."
"Don't you dare bring up his name!"
Moonfox's eyes went wide with shock, she had never see him that ticked off before.
"Sorry."
"Don't be, I understand, I didn't mean to upset you."
"What happened after..." he didn't finish his sentence, not wanting to relive those horrible memories.
"Something cause the mining facility that you and the rest of the Separatist Leaders were on went down in the lava."
She noticed that Gunray's hand was weakly reaching for the covers of the bed he was laying on. She gently lay her hand on top of his. "What are you doing?"
"I can't let you see me like this."
She removed her dark purple hooded cloak, covering him with it.
"Are you able to sleep?"
Gunray remained silent.
"Would you like for me, to give you something, to help you sleep?"
"Yes, please."
Before Gunray dozed off, he felt something running through the oxygen mask.
Moonfox walks to the mining facility for the second time, during her visit on Mustafar, She turns around to see that her beloved Viceroy wasn't following her inside.
She notices his hesitation.
"Gunray, you don't have to go in with me, if you don't want to, you can wait by my ship until I return, if that is what you wish."
Scene 2: During Moonfox's battle with Darth Vader.
"Moonfox, why are we fighting each other?"
"Does murdering the Separatist, ring any bells to you? They were innocent."
"Innocent! Your mate and his buddies are a bunch of war criminals."
"They thought, they were doing the right thing."
Darth Moonfox and Darth Vader bickered at one another as her Tenseiga and his lightsaber clashed.
Scene 3: Moonfox comes to her senses
"Moonfox, why do you look so sad?" Gunray asked Moonfox as she stopped a few inches in front of him.
She turns around to face Darth Vader, her honey colored eyes still had somr amber to them, but only in glints. "I rather die, than know I was the one, who caused my beloved viceroy's death." she snarled at him.
Nute Gunray gently laid Moonfox on a bed on her ship, after her battle with Darth Vader. Making his way over to the controls, setting the coordinates for their departure back to Coruscant.
He sat there for a moment, until something caught the corner of his eye.
He turned around to see the object in question. It was a glass coffin.
He came closer to see what was inside it, he saw that someone was in it.
He recognized the being immediately, by the headdress it was wearing.
He quickly lifted up the lid, he picked up the lifeless and broken body of his advisor; Rune Haako, cradling him close to his chest, Gunray noticed that Rune had the same scar, matching his.
Even though, he couldn't see her, he could sense Moonfox's presence, her cheek resting on his left shoulder, while she placed her hand on his right shoulder, stroking it.
"Thank you Moonfox, for bringing my brother back to me."
Scene 4: After Moonfox is emitted into a medical center
"Moonfox, I know you can't hear me through the glass, I just wanted to say, thank you for bringing me back."
A grateful smile painted his lips.
Scene 5: After Moonfox is taken out of the becta tank.
Nute Gunray gently wrapped his arms around Moonfox's body, being careful not to disturb the wires attached to his mate. He cradled her close to his chest.
Hot tears threatened to spill from his ruby eyes, his voice broke as he spoke.
"Please Moonfox, you need to wake up. I don't know, what to do without you in my life."
Scene 6: Nute Gunray is visited by the spirit of his brother and advisor, Rune Haako
Nute Gunray felt a pair of eyes peering behind his back, fearing of who it might be, he slowly turn around. Pure shock written on his face. In an desperate attempt to escape from the figure, he jumped out of his seat and over the hospital bed, hitting a wall in the process, laying in a pile of his own robes on the floor.
"Ugh, that's gonna be sore in the morning."
The figure held out a ghostly hand.
His eyes widened as he recognized who was in front of him. "Rune... is that you?"
Rune's flowery headdress bobbed and weave as he nodded his head. Nute hesitate for a moment, then took it to help him up.
Scene 7: Rune convinces Gunray to go to Cato Neimoidia
What's the matter, Gunray?
"I don't know if I should stay with Moonfox, or go to Cato Neimoidia."
I'll watch over her, while you're gone.
"Thank you, Rune. I'll won't be gone long."
Scene 8: Nute Gunray comes back from Cato Neimoidia, shortly after Rune's funeral.
She certainly has grown since the last time I saw her.
"You should have seen her take on Darth Vader."
Rune turned away from him, trying to hide the nerve, his brother just struck.
I don't think we should trust her.
"She's different from all the other sith lords, we've met."
What makes you say that?
His advisor asked puzzled.
Gunray pulled his robes that were underneath the dark purple hooded cloak, revealing a long scar, decorating his green flesh.
"She healed my wounds, do you see any of them doing that?"
Rune wrapped both of his arms around his legs, his chin resting on top of them.
We both share the same fate, why didn't we go through the same process?
Gunray's eyes were half closed in sadness.
"I don't know, I wish you had a second chance, you deserve it more than I do."
Rune got up from his seat.
Following suit, approaching a few meters from where his brother stood. closing the gap.
The Neimoidian viceroy wrapped both of his arms around his advisor's waist, hugging him, his chin resting on his right shoulder, not caring that he was holding thin air.
"Do you have to go?"
Gunray... Rune sighed, trying to figure out what to say to his brother. He finally found his words.
I'm stuck in purgatory, I can't cross over to the afterlife, without you joining, as well. Til that time comes. I'm always with you.
He could feel his advisor's spirit disappear from his embrace.
After his brother was gone, probably roaming this plane of existence, watching over Gunray and his mate, before he went back to his seat next to Moonfox's bedside, he stood there for a moment. Not knowing if his brother could hear him or not.
"Rune, I heard what you tried to do, before my death came by the hands of Darth Vader, you did your best to demand him to spare our lives, before yours came to a tragic end. I hope that the time does come for us to meet again, let it be in a heavily paradise with the rest of the Separatist Leaders. I wish there was a way to honor your courage."
Before Gunray had a chance to turn around, he felt something near his foot, kneeling down on one knee, to pick it up, in his hand was a flower petal. Rune must have plucked it from his headdress, leaving it behind.
He lifted it up, a few meters away from his face, placing it to his lips, in a gentle kiss. "I'll miss you Rune, I didn't say it when you was alive, but I'm saying this now, thank you for everythingthat you have done for me."
"Even though, I'm not worthy of wearing this cloak, I'll have to return it eventually, when we leave this place," the Neimoidian viceroy let a small chuckle escape his lips, he found himself talking to no one in particular.
"Maybe, she'll let me keep it, it does conceal my presence from others, I really don't want to face Lord Sidious unless it's truly necessary."
He placed his arm on the sheets, a hand crawl under the sleeping werefox's, a thumb stroking the pale flesh.
"I wonder, what exactly are you dreaming of, Moonfox?"
Before he knew it, something had lull him to sleep.
Scene 9: After Moonfox wakes up from her coma.
"You must be hungry, I'll be right back." said Gunray as he pulled the hood back of the borrow cloak, walking out of the dorrway, leaving the room.
Moonfox was trying to figure out where he was going only coming up with a blank.
A long time had passed til he came back, carrying something in his arm.
"Was any of the medical droids come to check up on you?"
Moonfox nodded to him "They wanted me to stay overnight for observations."
Gunray placed the object in her lap. she got it near her face to get a closer look, it revealed to be a chunk of meat, she could sense the dark side of the force radiating off of it.
She knew who this belongs to, seeing a couple of charred marks on the surface.
"How long did it take you to get the armor off?"
She was about to dig into her meaty morsel.
When she turned her attention back to her beloved viceroy,
He gave her a confused look, "Is there something wrong with it?"
She shook her head. "I was about to ask you, if you would like to join me?"
"No, you go ahead, I had something, before leaving Cato Neimoidia, but thank you anyway." he declined her generous offer.
"I've never been to your homeworld, what's it like?"
When she was finished with her meal, she scooted herself, to the right side of her bed.
"Gunray, will you sleep with me, tonight?"
Before taking up her offer, he took off the dark purple hooded cloak, folding it, he crouched next to the bed, he removed his headdress, laying it on top of the piece of clothing, placing it underneath the furniture, hoping that no one would find it .
Lifting up the covers, climbing in the bed, tucking the covers over him, laying on his right side, Moonfox laid on her left side, afterwards. being careful not to snuggled too hard in his chest. It hadn't been long since his body had fully recovered and heal from the ordeal it went through.
He whispered in her ear with a reassuring voice, "It's all right Moonfox, you release me, of my pain."
She placed her hand on top of his abdomen, while he placed the back of his hand on her stomach.
"Are you sure?"
"Would I be, if I wasn't?"
"I don't want to hurt you,"
"You won't hurt me, even if you try. I know you too well for that to happen."
"Do you really, know me?"
Scene 10: Moonfox's Nightmare
Sometime in the middle of the night, Nute Gunray woke up to feel something tight, against his chest. He tilted his head down slightly to whisper in her ear.
"What's wrong, my beloved vixen?"
All he got were whimpers.
After a while his question was answered.
"Please Gunray, I beg of you, don't go."
Is the vision Moonfox had on Mustafar earlier, still haunting her?
Nute Gunray wrapped an protective arm around her waist, nuzzling his cheek in the crook of her neck. "Moonfox, even if Death takes me away again... I will never leave you."
Scene 11: When Moonfox steps out of the shower, and notices that her amulet is missing.
Even though the water was running, he could hear singing
"Demons hide, don't get to close, its dark inside. I want to save this light. I can't escape this now, unless you show me how,"
"Hey Gunray. have you seen my amulet?"
"Did you check your robe pockets?"
After opening the bathroom door, Moonfox walked out of there, wearing nothing but a towel wrapped around her waist. A piece of jewelry clenched in one hand.
Her beloved Viceroy got up from the bed, coming towards where she was standing. Taking the item from her grasp, placing it around her neck.
That's when she got a good look at it; a silver fox charm curled up asleep with one wing, surrounded on both sides were purple Smithsonian nuggets.
She noticed that there was a red piece of thread was tied at the opening of the locket.
When she reached up to untied it.
Gunray placed his hand on top of hers. "Don't open it just yet, not until you feel that all hope has abandon you."
She gave him a puzzled look.
Scene 12: When Darth Moonfox comes home with her Nemoidian mate after a long day tour around her homeworld.
"Someone been in here."
"How can you tell?"
"That wasn't in here before." said Moonfox, pointing a claw like talon to an object sitting on the bed.
walking over to it she pressed an ear on a dark purple box, she could hear something inside it.
Standing straight back up.
"Gunray, do you mind steppin' outside for a spell?"
Moonfox went over to where the security camera was located, rewind the footage a few minutes back to the time stamp showing, when the both of them were out.
She saw an image of her master appearing at the half minute mark walking into her room, leaving the homecoming present, then left, closing the door behind him.
Thank ypu, my master . She thought to herself, as a smile painted her features
"You can come in now." she shoutted so her Neimoidian viceroy can hear her.
"Did you figure out who's been in here?" he asked her.
She nodded her head.
"Aren't you going to open it?"
"Keep your robes on." Moonfox playfully teased.
She doesn't think that he took it the way, it was meant to be taken.
She rubbed the back of her neck, laughing nervously, "Sorry,"
Moonfox lifted up the lid.
"Get some rest, Moonfox, you earned it."
"No, i don't, but I know who does."
Gunray watched his mate climb on her bed, her back against the frame, in confusion, then it hit him, as he realized who she was referring to, he sat in her lap turning himself around, placing his side against her chest.
She could feel him nuzzling deeper, a smiled appeared on her face. as she asked him.
"Comfy, aren't we?"
He replied with a sigh of content, his eyes closing as he was about to fall asleep.
Final Scene: Rune pays one final visit, before he disappears in the veil of purgatory, while Gunray is having his own nightmare.
Moonfox saw a spirit of an Neimoidian standing at the foot of her bed, she knew who it was, "Hey there, Rune." She greeted him with a smile.
She watched him walk towards her, til he stop in front of her. Rune saw the expression on his brother's face, as every muscle in his body tense, without saying a word, he held his arms out.
"You want to hold him?" she asked him.
Rune nodded his head.
Moonfox carefully placed her beloved Viceroy in his brother's arms, wishing every fiber in her being, that he doesn't fall from his loving embrace.
Somehow, he solidfied himself, as Gunray relax,
"Would you like to have a seat?" Moonfox asked him again, she scooted over to the right side of her bed, as he did so.
"I may have heal of his physical pain, but I will never heal the mental scars."
"Moonfox," he whispered, as she turned her gaze to him. "Give him time, he'll come around." his face took on a sad expression, after he said that.
"What's wrong, Rune." she asked him.
I'm afraid, he'll forget me.
"He might not remember you, but he will know you're there." she said soothing him of his sorrow.
Thank you, Moonfox.
Moonfox.
"Hmm."
Can I ask you something?
"Sure, Rune. What's on your mind?"
I've been wondering, what do you see in my brother, that made you fall in love with him?
"He cares about his people."
A friend of my brother, is a friend of mine. Get some rest Moonfox, you must be tucker out after a long day.
She unclasp her locket, placing it on her nightstand. Even though Rune was a spirit, she didn't want the piece of jewelry digging into him, as she laid her head on his lap.
Sleep well, Moonfox. He whispered to her, unwrapping his right arm, stroking her hair.
Rune sighed, after Moonfox had fallen asleep.
I envy the living, they get to rest, while the dead don't, long after our bodies are laid to rest.
I miss my body, unable to physically holding, embracing, or touching a love one, to feel them breathe, to feel their warmth.
His thoughts, soon turned to those, who had died before him.
Why have our fellow Neimoidians able to move on to the afterlife? While I stay behind.
What is my purpose here? Maybe... Is it... To watch over the one, who meant so much to me in my life and to protect him, when he needs it the most?
Rune bowed his head to look at the sleeping couple, a smile painted his lips.
Gunray, I'm glad you found yourself a mate, I enjoy spending time with the both of you. I hope I get to spend more, in the near future.
