On a gloomy Christmas morning, deputies of a local sheriff's department in Northern California are tasked with investigating a fatal traffic accident caused by inattention and icy driving conditions. Local fire crews had responded intending to conduct a rescue, but are instead tasked with recovering a body. It will be a couple hours before the coroner can clear the scene, and even longer until the wrecked vehicle can be moved. Until then, this stretch of highway will remain closed. Sometimes showing up late for Christmas with the family is better than never showing up at all.
