Despite their hostility, it is not impossible to tame a hellhound, however this is generally regarded as nothing less than a suicide mission. This is because one cannot simply separate a hellhound from its master; they must first destroy the master.
Once unbound from their master their "empowerment" ceases, leading to a sudden influx of fear and, if injured, pain. If able, the now unbound hellhounds will attempt to flee, but if wounded they will quickly begin to succumb to any injuries suffered.

Cerberus here is an example of a tamed hellhound, unbound from her master and taken into care. When tamed, hellhounds are extremely loyal companions. They are surprisingly able to understand some degree of many spoken languages.

So, Cerberus isn't exactly a canonical character within the lore, just a fun character that I made at work a while back. Really just designed because I thought the idea of a hellhound with a little harness and backpack would be cute, and I was right!

However, there is a canon tamed hellhound, named Syre, and boy oh boy is he a fun case.
