Hellhounds are large canine-like carnivores, their origins are unknown but it is assumed that they do not come from Earth, or even this plane. They are vicious pack hunters, grouping up to attack anything they can find and tearing their prey apart with their beaks.

They are used as minions (almost always cannon fodder) by higher "master" beings thanks to their extreme aggression and rapid reproduction.
These masters are able to boost the strength of their hounds through a manner of "empowerment." The way by which this is performed is, much like their origin, unknown, but it is known to take place within the blood of the hellhound, which contains a unique luminescent enzyme; rapidly increasing the rate of wound healing and effectively nullifying fear and pain.

And now, outside of lore. Hellhounds! My beloved birdogs! These lovely boys appeared in a dream of mine well long ago, but I'd only ever been able to draw them a couple times since my artistic skill with a pen is... limited... to say the least.
But Ket did such a great job at bringing them to life and illustrating them just as I had seen in my dream so long ago, I genuinely couldn't be happier with the outcome every time she draws them.

There are some changes between how they appeared in the dream and how they appear in concept, the most notable being the previously mentioned "unique luminescent enzyme" which I created for the sake of giving them a fancy orange glow, you can see that glow here.

I'm so excited to finally get to dump some of this lore out and get it more refined.
