So! Wet.
This was actually a test to see how water resistant my ink was. Held up pretty well! Submerged the entire paper in water and then proceeded to try and rub Kuromi out of existence. Which is unfair for the ink and pushes beyond what a normal situation may have, but that just adds to the performance.
Anyways, that concludes this test.
Noodler's X-Feather is an afforable water resistant ink I'd recommend to those in the audience with fountain pens.

Water resistant isn't waterproof, and when it comes to fountain pens, pretty much no ink is waterproof. Just gotta remember that if you're out drawing in the rain!
But!
Liking the look isn't weird at all. The manipulation you're thinking of has a name and has been used for hundreds of years! Ink-wash. You'll recognize the technique immediately once you look it up.
It's also used semi-frequently with fountain pens, but it isn't something I dabble with.
