Having Gen 2 guidebooks as a childe gave me a bit of an advantage remembering that Slugma is Gen 2. But they only appear as a rare encounter in the Kanto postgame, so I don't blame the mixup :P Same goes for the mixup that Chimecho is Gen 3 instead of Gen 4.
The one I'm kinda surprised people mix up a lot is Skarmory. I remembered them having a lot more prominence in Gen 2 than the others, but I might be misremembering.

Yeah like I never went too far in gen 2 because my English was quite limited when I was a kid so I usually got lost after Clair battle xP
And yeah I'm also one of these people who thought Chimecho was gen 4 too lol
Yeah Skarmory was quite the face of gen 2 for me, ok that I was obsessed with the metal bird, and when I finally captured it was my biggest disappointment in the game xDD
