I love it! Brings back memories of my fave comic book of the early 1970s - Jack Kirby's Kamandi - DC Comics. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/~4QA.....PK/s-l1600.jpg Title character was the last of the normal humans on a greatly changed Earth. Most humans had regressed and animals had advanced rapidly. Big conflict between a Tiger Empire and a Gorilla Empire. Bit of a take off on Planet of the Apes.
I've got two gorilla characters in my story, "There's No Way". They're twin brothers and I chose to make them bodyguards of a bigoted Arctic fox character. When my protagonist meets them, he befriends them by telling them about their ancestry. (He knows which species of gorilla they are, Western lowland gorillas.) This is pretty much how I envisioned the brothers to look.
