Original description: Mortalis Renamon is a wise and honourable fighter, gifted with the ability to harness the energies of the most secret weapon of the Digimon, he was old when even Jetix was young and is respected by Gigatron himself. Usually, you may expect anyone given the power to literally inflict free damage regardless of the protection to use it many, many times. Not so with Mortalis, he would rather give his opponent a fair fight, launching kicks and punches that get increasingly harder to avoid. Once one has shown their worth against him, Mortalis Renamon finally unleashes his forbidden power. The Mortal Wounder. This buster-staff only fires few and far between bolts of doom, but each shot defies all science and physics, ghosting through armour like a satanic cheat code and defying all laws of fairness.
Seeing how powerful this weapon is, it's clear that Mortalis Renamon doesn't just hold the weapon, he guards it. And those who seek to take the Mortal Wounder, regardless of intention will have a truly desperate fight on their hands.
Good points: Masterful. Bad points: Needs to guard his weapon. Likes: Martial arts. Dislikes: Incompetence. "Patience now, young one. You have much to learn."
Compared to the other initial designs for the Digi Masters of Ordna Awakens, Mortalis Renamon's design is the one that got the best redo. But that's a story for another day, Mortalis Renamon is pretty much the evil sorcerer meets wise Chinese monk kind of character among the Digi Masters. The idea to begin with was to have a Digi Master who actually used the Warp, home of the Chaos Gods and their daemons, since the Digimon have full control of that place and created most of it. I also wanted to use Mortalis to explain the universally hated Mortal Wounds from Warhammer AOS and 40k in 8th edition and beyond.
Since Mortal Wounds are basically "free damage" on a target no matter what saves they have because GW are bad at game design nowadays, it's pretty clear that the story reason for them is the Warp having distorted, no, damaged, the fabric of reality in AOS and 40k so badly that physics are starting to fall apart. So with the Mortal Wounder, it's basically a staff of doom that can invalidate even Xeelee-level armour and resilience because it uses the power of Chaos and the Warp, so of course it does. It's more of a last stretch of the fight weapon, and it can probably at least two-shot Ordna if he gets hit by it, with a suitably graphic effect.
