”She pulls aside thick curtains in search of the first morning’s glow, warm light like kisses on her flushed, chilled cheeks. Just past her balcony, a pool of clouds sail along the horizon and begin their slow wander through the sky. Sunshine stretches across the mountain range in a haze of pink, gold, and periwinkle, a sweet sigh of color painting life into the sugary-white countryside.
And when the birds begin to sing, their thin voices telling her that no day has ever been so beautiful, she believes them.”
